Abstract

A vehicle communication system is operable to calculate and compare vehicle statistics based on information received from a vehicle sensor. This statistic information can be used by the vehicle communication system to execute a plurality of statistic based games. Additionally, relevant statistic information may be transmitted to a remote network for the purpose of playing games against other drivers. The vehicle communication system can report statistical changes to a driver, thus appraising the driver of the driver's success in achieving statistical game goals. Network rankings may also be provided to the driver in a real-time basis by the vehicle communication system.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method implementable by a vehicle computing system comprising:
storing a first value, determined at least in part based on vehicle sensor information; calculating a second value, based at least in part on vehicle sensor information; comparing the second value to the first value; and automatically reporting the second value to a driver and storing the second value if a difference between the first and second values exceeds a predetermined threshold.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second values correspond to fuel economy.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second values correspond to energy consumption.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining if a period of time has passed; and contingent on the passing of a period of time, clearing the first value.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the period of time corresponds to a new day.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second values correspond to tire pressure.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second values correspond to mileage since a last oil change was performed.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first value is an average value corresponding to an average of a plurality of measured values and the second value is a real-time value.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein both values are average values.

10 . A computer readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor of a vehicle computing system, cause the system to perform the method comprising:
storing a first value, determined at least in part based on vehicle sensor information; calculating a second value, based at least in part on vehicle sensor information; comparing the second value to the first value; and automatically reporting the second value to a driver and storing the second value if a difference between the first and second values exceeds a predetermined threshold.

11 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the first and second values correspond to fuel economy.

12 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the first and second values correspond to energy consumption.

13 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the method further comprises:
determining if a period of time has passed; and contingent on the passing of a period of time, clearing the first value.

14 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the period of time corresponds to a new day.

15 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the first and second values correspond to tire pressure.

16 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the first and second values correspond to mileage since a last oil change was performed.

17 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the first value is an average value corresponding to an average of a plurality of measured values and the second value is a real-time value.

18 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein both values are average values.

         19 . A vehicle computing system comprising:
a processor, in communication with a vehicle computing network; a wireless device, in wireless communication with the processor and a remote computing system; wherein the processor is operable to:
 instruct storing of a first value, determined at least in part based on vehicle sensor information;
calculate a second value, based at least in part on vehicle sensor information; compare the second value to the first value; and automatically report the second value to a driver and instruct storing of the second value if a difference between the first and second values exceeds a predetermined threshold.

20 . The vehicle computing system of claim 19 , wherein the processor is operable to transmit one or both of the first and second value to the remote computing system through the wireless device, wherein the processor is further operable to instruct storing of one or both of the first and second value on the remote computing system.
