Abstract

A fertilizer supplying animal nutrients including a core particle having an outer surface and comprising compounds containing animal nutrients, and a coating of urea on the outer surface of the core particle, and further a process of making the fertilizer including the steps of: screening animal nutrient core particles comprising a powdered substance containing an animal nutrient, to a preselected particle size; spraying melted urea onto the surface of the nutrient core particles to produce a coating on the nutrient core particles; granulating the nutrient core particles with sprayed melted urea to produce nutrient core granules; and cooling the nutrient core granules.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A fertilizer supplying animal nutrients comprising:
a core particle having an outer surface and comprising compounds containing animal nutrients, and a coating of urea on the outer surface of the core particle.

2 . The fertilizer of claim 1 , further comprising a second outer coating of urea over the first coating of urea resulting in a twice coated core particle.

3 . The fertilizer of claim 1 , wherein the animal is a human.

4 . The fertilizer of claim 1 , wherein the core particles have a size in the range of 0.7 to 1.5 mm.

5 . The fertilizer of claim 1 , wherein the coated core particles have a size in the range of 0.9 to 1.5 mm.

6 . The fertilizer of claim 2 , wherein the twice coated core particles have a size in the range of 2.5 to 3.6 mm.

7 . The fertilizer of claim 1 , wherein the urea coating further includes supplemental nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compounds.

8 . The fertilizer of claim 7 , wherein the nitrogen compounds is selected from group consisting of ureaform, water soluble urea formaldehyde polymer, water insoluble urea formaldehyde polymer, methylene urea, methylene diurea, dimethylenetriurea, urea formaldehyde, ammonia, ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, calcium nitrate, diammonium phosphate, monoammonium phosphate, potassium nitrate and sodium nitrate.

9 . The fertilizer of claim 1 , wherein the animal nutrients are selected from the group consisting of iron sulfate, iron oxides, chelated iron, zinc sulfate, iron nitrate, zinc oxide, chelated zinc, copper oxide, copper sulfate, copper nitrate, magnesium nitrate, magnesium sulfate, magnesium oxide, selenium sulfate, selenium oxide, potassium iodide and sodium iodide.

10 . The fertilizer of claim 1 wherein the proportion of total animal nutrients has a range of 0.01 to 10.0% wt.

11 . The fertilizer of claim 9 wherein the chelated iron is Fe EDTA and the chelated zinc is Zn EDTA.

12 . The fertilizer of claim 9 , wherein the amount of zinc ranges from 0.01 to 10% wt.

13 . The fertilizer of claim 1 , wherein the animal nutrients are selected from the group consisting of vitamins A, C, D, E and K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6 and B12, folic acid (vitamin B9), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and biotin (vitamin B7).

14 . A process of making a fertilizer supplying animal nutrients comprising the following steps:
screening animal nutrient core particles comprising a powdered substance containing an animal nutrient, to a preselected particle size; spraying melted urea onto the surface of the nutrient core particles to produce a coating on the nutrient core particles; granulating the nutrient core particles with sprayed melted urea to produce nutrient core granules; and cooling the nutrient core granules.

15 . The process of claim 14 , wherein the animal nutrient is a human nutrient.

         16 . The process of  claim 14 , further including prior to screening, a step of granulating one or more powdered substances containing animal nutrients and a binder resulting in animal nutrient core particles;

17 . The process of claim 16 , wherein the animal nutrient is a human nutrient.

18 . The process of claim 14 , further including the following steps:
after drying the granules, spraying melted urea onto the surface of the nutrient core granules to produce a second coating on the nutrient core particles; granulating the second coated nutrient core particles with sprayed melted urea to produce twice coated nutrient core granules; and cooling the twice coated nutrient core granules.

19 . A method of alleviating or eliminating nutrient deficiencies in animals by growing animal nutrient enriched food plants, comprising the following steps:
 (a) determining a deficiency of an animal nutrient in an animal; (b) determining the amount of the animal nutrient in a food plant grown on a specific soil; (c) determining the amount of the animal nutrient in the soil; (d) determining the amount of animal nutrient required to be applied to the soil to increase the amount of animal nutrient in the food plant; (e) selecting the animal nutrient in the fertilizer of claim 1 to be the nutrient determined in step a and adjusting the amount of the selected nutrient to provide the determined amount of nutrient in step d; and (f) applying the fertilizer resulting from step (e) to said specific soil.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the animal is a human.
