Abstract

The present invention relates to materials comprising organic-inorganic polymeric networks. In some embodiments, the present invention provides an organic-inorganic composite material comprising an inorganic metal oxide matrix interpenetrating with a polymeric phase. Additionally, the present invention provides methods of producing organic-inorganic composite materials.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An organic-inorganic nanocomposite material comprising an inorganic matrix interpenetrating with a polymeric phase, wherein the inorganic matrix has the formula:

wherein M is a metal and p is the number of repeat units and wherein the inorganic matrix has a drying volume shrinkage of less than about 20%.

2 . The organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 , wherein the inorganic matrix has a drying volume shrinkage of less than about 10%.

3 . The organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 , wherein the inorganic matrix has a drying volume shrinkage of less than about 1%.

4 . The organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 , wherein M is selected from the group consisting of silicon, aluminum, titanium, and zirconium.

5 . The organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 , wherein the inorganic matrix is covalently bonded to the polymeric phase.

6 . The organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric phase comprises monomers of unsaturated organic acid esters.

7 . The organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric phase is chemically bound to the inorganic matrix.

8 . The organic-inorganic composite of claim 7 , wherein the polymeric phase further comprises at least one additional monomer.

9 . The organic-inorganic composite of claim 8 , wherein the at least one additional monomer comprises an acrlylate, methacrylate, styrene, vinylacetate, vinylalcohol, or N-vinylpyrrolidone.

         10 . The organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 , wherein the organic-inorganic nanocomposite material is non-transparent.

11 . The organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 , wherein the organic-inorganic nanocomposite material is transparent.

         12 . A printed circuit board comprising:
a substrate comprising the organic-inorganic nanocomposite material of claim 1 .

13 . The printed circuit board of claim 12 further comprising at least one trace.
