Method and Apparatus for Detecting Changes in Websites and Reporting Results to Web Developers for Navigation Template
Abstract
A computerized appliance includes a non-transitory physical memory medium couple to the computerized appliance, and software executing on the computerized appliance from the non-transitory physical memory medium. The computerized appliance performs a method comprising steps of accessing an electronic information page on a network by proxy on behalf of a client, following a navigation template assembled from a plurality of functional logic blocks, determining failed execution of the navigation template, determining the logic block involved at the point of failure, determining information necessary to repair the logic block determined at the point of failure, creating a new modular logic block according to the information, and installing the newly-created modular logic block into the navigation template that failed, and automatically replacing the failed logic block in all stored navigation templates that depend on the failed logic block.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computerized appliance comprising:
a non-transitory physical memory medium couple to the computerized appliance; and software executing on the computerized appliance from the non-transitory physical memory medium; wherein the computerized appliance performs a method comprising steps: (a) accessing an electronic information page on a network by proxy on behalf of a client, following a navigation template assembled from a plurality of functional logic blocks; (b) determining failed execution of the navigation template; (c) determining the logic block involved at the point of failure; (d) determining information necessary to repair the logic block determined at the point of failure; (e) creating a new modular logic block according to the information; and (f) installing the newly-created modular logic block into the navigation template that failed, and automatically replacing the failed logic block in all stored navigation templates that depend on the failed logic block.
2 . The computerized appliance of claim 1 , wherein the network is the Internet network and electronic information page is a web page hosted on the network.
3 . The computerized appliance of claim 2 , wherein the navigation template is a test template created for testing web pages on the Internet.
4 . The computerized appliance of claim 2 , wherein the navigation template is stored as a client navigation template executed to perform services for the client.
5 . The computerized appliance of claim 2 wherein the recorded instance of a failed routine is created in the form of a data file and stored in a data repository accessible through the network.
6 . The computerized appliance of claim 5 wherein the recorded instance of the failed navigation routine is accessed by a human software developer.
7 . The computerized appliance of claim 6 wherein navigation is performed by the developer utilizing an instance of browser software installed on a computerized workstation.
8 . The computerized appliance of claim 6 wherein the modular logic block self-installs to a depended navigation template.
9 . The computerized appliance of claim 1 further comprising a step for testing the modular logic block before implementation.
10 . The computerized appliance of claim 8 wherein more than one modular logic block is identified as failed and is replaced in navigation templates.Cited by (0)
