Abstract
A recording medium in which a left-view video stream and a right-view video stream are recorded in an interleaved transport stream file. The interleaved transport stream file is identified by a combination of (i) an equivalent identification number being equivalent with the file reference information and (ii) a file extension indicating that video streams are stored in the interleaved manner, the equivalent identification number. Among Extents that constitute the interleaved transport stream file, Extents constituting the left-view or right-view video stream are identified as a normal-format transport stream file by a combination of (i) the equivalent identification number being equivalent with the file reference information and (ii) a file extension indicating that video streams are stored in a normal manner.

18 . A recording medium in which playlist information and a video stream are recorded, wherein the playlist information includes one or more pieces of playback section information,
each of the one or more pieces of playback section information includes: file reference information that specifies stream files corresponding to a transport file storing the video stream; a stream permission table indicating a video stream that can be played back; and base-view specification information, wherein the video stream is classified into a left-view video stream and a right-view video stream with which a stereoscopic playback is available, one of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is a base-view video stream and the other one is a dependent-view video stream, the dependent-view video stream has been compress-encoded based on the base-view video stream, the base-view specification information indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is the base-view video stream, and indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is played back during a planar-view playback, a transport stream storing the base-view video stream is divided into a plurality of pieces of base-view data, and a transport stream storing the dependent-view video stream is divided into a plurality of pieces of dependent-view data, and the plurality of pieces of base-view data and the plurality of pieces of dependent-view data are arranged and recorded in an interleaved manner.
19 . The recording medium of claim 18 , wherein
the playlist information includes main path information and sub-path information, the main path information is information that defines main playback sections in the base-view video stream, and includes information indicating an in point and an out point of each of the main playback sections, and the sub-path information is information that defines dependent playback sections in the dependent-view video stream, and includes information indicating an in point and an out point of each of the dependent playback sections, the dependent playback sections being to be synchronized with the main playback sections.
20 . A playback device for playing back a video stream in accordance with playlist information,
wherein the playlist information includes one or more pieces of playback section information, each of the one or more pieces of playback section information includes: file reference information that specifies stream files corresponding to a transport file storing the video stream; a stream permission table indicating a video stream that can be played back; and base-view specification information, the playback device comprising: a reading unit operable to read out a transport stream file identified by the file reference information; a decoder operable to obtain non-compressed picture data by decoding compressed picture data that is included in a video stream stored in the read-out transport stream file; a mode register storing an output mode of the playback device; and an output unit operable to output the obtained non-compressed picture data in accordance with the output mode stored in the mode register, wherein the video stream is classified into a left-view video stream and a right-view video stream with which a stereoscopic playback is available, one of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is a base-view video stream and the other one is a dependent-view video stream, the dependent-view video stream has been compress-encoded based on the base-view video stream, the base-view specification information indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is the base-view video stream, when the planar-view playback is to be performed, the decoder decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, and when the stereoscopic playback is to be performed, the decoder decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the dependent-view video stream by referring to non-compressed picture data of the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, outputs one of the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream as a left-view image in accordance with the base-view specification information, and outputs the other one of the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream as a right-view image.
21 . The playback device of claim 20 , wherein
the playlist information includes main path information and sub-path information, the main path information is information that defines main playback sections in the base-view video stream, and includes information indicating an in point and an out point of each of the main playback sections, the sub-path information is information that defines dependent playback sections in the dependent-view video stream, and includes information indicating an in point and an out point of each of the dependent playback sections, the dependent playback sections being to be synchronized with the main playback sections, and
the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream are played back in synchronization in the main playback sections based on the main path information and the sub-path information.
22 . An integrated circuit embedded in a playback device for reading and playing back a video stream in accordance with playlist information,
wherein the playlist information includes one or more pieces of playback section information, each of the one or more pieces of playback section information includes: file reference information that specifies stream files corresponding to a transport file storing the video stream; a stream permission table indicating a video stream that can be played back; and base-view specification information, the integrated circuit comprising: a decoder operable to obtain non-compressed picture data by decoding compressed picture data that is included in a video stream stored in a read-out transport stream file; a mode register storing an output mode of the playback device; and a control unit operable to perform a control so that the non-compressed picture data obtained by the decoder is output in accordance with the output mode stored in the mode register, wherein the video stream is classified into a left-view video stream and a right-view video stream with which a stereoscopic playback is available, one of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is a base-view video stream and the other one is a dependent-view video stream, the dependent-view video stream has been compress-encoded based on the base-view video stream, the base-view specification information indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is the base-view video stream, when the planar-view playback is to be performed, the decoder decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, and when the stereoscopic playback is to be performed, the decoder decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the dependent-view video stream by referring to non-compressed picture data of the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, outputs one of the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream as a left-view image in accordance with the base-view specification information, and outputs the other one of the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream as a right-view image.
23 . A playback method for performing, on a computer, a process of playing back a video stream in accordance with playlist information,
wherein the playlist information includes one or more pieces of playback section information, each of the one or more pieces of playback section information includes: file reference information that specifies stream files corresponding to a transport file storing the video stream; a stream permission table indicating a video stream that can be played back; and base-view specification information, the playback method comprising the steps of: reading out a transport stream file identified by the file reference information; obtaining non-compressed picture data by decoding compressed picture data that is included in a video stream stored in the read-out transport stream file; and outputting the obtained non-compressed picture data in accordance with output mode stored in a mode register in the computer, wherein the video stream is classified into a left-view video stream and a right-view video stream with which a stereoscopic playback is available, one of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is a base-view video stream and the other one is a dependent-view video stream, the dependent-view video stream has been compress-encoded based on the base-view video stream, the base-view specification information indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is the base-view video stream, when the planar-view playback is to be performed, the decoding step decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, and
when the stereoscopic playback is to be performed, the decoding step decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the dependent-view video stream by referring to non-compressed picture data of the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, outputs one of the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream as a left-view image in accordance with the base-view specification information, and outputs the other one of the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream as a right-view image.
24 . A recording method for recording playlist information and a video stream onto a recording medium, the recording method comprising the steps of:
generating a base-view stream including a plurality of extents and a dependent-view stream including a plurality of extents; recording data in which the plurality of extents belonging to the base-view stream and the plurality of extents belonging to the dependent-view stream are arranged in an interleaved manner; and recording the playlist information, wherein the playlist information includes one or more pieces of playback section information, each of the one or more pieces of playback section information includes: file reference information that specifies stream files corresponding to a transport file storing the video stream; a stream permission table indicating a video stream that can be played back; and base-view specification information, wherein the base-view specification information indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is the base-view video stream, and indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is played back during a planar-view playback.
25 . The recording method of claim 24 , wherein
the playlist information includes main path information and sub-path information, the main path information is information that defines main playback sections in the base-view video stream, and includes information indicating an in point and an out point of each of the main playback sections, and the sub-path information is information that defines dependent playback sections in the dependent-view video stream, and includes information indicating an in point and an out point of each of the dependent playback sections, the dependent playback sections being to be synchronized with the main playback sections.
26 . A recording medium playback system comprising a recording medium and a playback device for playing back the recording medium, the recording medium storing a digital stream,
wherein playlist information and a video stream are recorded on the recording medium, the playlist information includes one or more pieces of playback section information, each of the one or more pieces of playback section information includes: file reference information that specifies stream files corresponding to a transport file storing the video stream; a stream permission table indicating a video stream that can be played back; and base-view specification information, wherein the video stream is classified into a left-view video stream and a right-view video stream with which a stereoscopic playback is available, one of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is a base-view video stream and the other one is a dependent-view video stream, the dependent-view video stream has been compress-encoded based on the base-view video stream, the base-view specification information indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is the base-view video stream, and indicates which of the left-view video stream and the right-view video stream is played back during a planar-view playback, the playback device including: a reading unit operable to read out a transport stream file identified by the file reference information included in the playlist information; a decoder operable to obtain non-compressed picture data by decoding compressed picture data that is included in a video stream stored in the read-out transport stream file; a mode register storing an output mode of the playback device; and an output unit operable to output the obtained non-compressed picture data in accordance with the output mode stored in the mode register, wherein the video stream is classified into a left-view video stream and a right-view video stream with which a stereoscopic playback is available, when the planar-view playback is to be performed, the decoder decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, and when the stereoscopic playback is to be performed, the decoder decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, decodes compressed picture data that constitutes the dependent-view video stream by referring to non-compressed picture data of the base-view video stream specified by the base-view specification information, outputs one of the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream as a left-view image in accordance with the base-view specification information, and outputs the other one of the base-view video stream and the dependent-view video stream as a right-view image.Cited by (0)
