Claims

Abstract

Novel polypeptides, polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides, and related compositions and methods are disclosed for zcytor19, a novel class II cytokine receptor. The polypeptides may be used within methods for detecting ligands that stimulate the proliferation and/or development of hematopoietic, lymphoid and myeloid cells in vitro and in vivo. Ligand-binding receptor polypeptides can also be used to block ligand activity in vitro and in vivo. The polynucleotides encoding zcytor19, are located on chromosome 1p36.11, and can be used to identify a region of the genome associated with human disease states. The present invention also includes methods for producing the protein, uses therefor and antibodies thereto.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An isolated polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide, wherein the encoded polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 21-226 of SEQ ID NO:19. 
     
     
         2 . The isolated polynucleotide of  claim 1 , wherein the encoded polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 21-249 of SEQ ID NO:19. 
     
     
         3 . The isolated polynucleotide of  claim 1 , wherein the encoded polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 21-520 of SEQ ID NO:19. 
     
     
         4 . An isolated polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide, wherein the encoded polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 21-491 of SEQ ID NO:2. 
     
     
         5 . An isolated polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide, wherein the encoded polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 21-211 of SEQ ID NO:21. 
     
     
         6 . An expression vector comprising the following operably linked elements:
 a transcription promoter;   the polynucleotide of  claim 1 ; and   a transcription terminator.   
     
     
         7 . An isolated cell comprising the expression vector of  claim 6 , wherein the encoded polypeptide is expressed. 
     
     
         8 . A method of producing a polypeptide comprising:
 culturing the cell according to  claim 7 , and   isolating the encoded polypeptide from the cell.
