Abstract
The present invention relates to ophthalmic systems and coatings comprising a selective light wavelength filter, wherein said selective filter provides improved contrast sensitivity.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An ophthalmic system comprising:
an ophthalmic lens selected from the group consisting of a spectacle lens, contact lens, intra-ocular lens, corneal inlay, corneal onlay, corneal graft, and corneal tissue, and a selective light wavelength filter that blocks 5-50% of light in the range of 400-460 nm and transmits at least 80% of light in the range of 460-700 nm.
2 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 1 , wherein said selective light wavelength filter comprises a coating on said ophthalmic lens.
3 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 2 , wherein said coating has a photopic luminous transmission of at least about 85% in the range of 460-700 nm.
4 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 3 , wherein said coating has an average transmission of 80% or greater of light within a range of from 400 nm-700 nm.
5 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 4 , wherein said coating has a Soret band.
6 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 2 , wherein said coating is a hard exterior coating.
7 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 2 , wherein said coating is an interior primer coating.
8 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 7 , wherein said primer coating promotes adhesion of a hard coat to the substrate.
9 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 2 , wherein said coating is applied by any one of spin-coating, dip-coating, spray-coating, evaporation, sputtering, and chemical vapor deposition.
10 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 2 , wherein said ophthalmic lens is a spectacle lens.
11 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 2 , wherein said ophthalmic lens is a contact lens.
12 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 2 , wherein said ophthalmic lens is an intraocular lens.
13 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 2 , wherein said ophthalmic lens is a sunglass lens.

an ophthalmic lens selected from the group consisting of a spectacle lens, contact lens, intra-ocular lens, corneal inlay, corneal onlay, corneal graft, and corneal tissue, said ophthalmic lens including a blue-absorbing dye that blocks 5-50% of light in the range of 400-460 nm and transmits at least 80% of light in the range of 460-700 nm; and a color-balancing coating on said ophthalmic lens.
48 . The coating according to claim 47 , whereby the coating has a Soret band.
49 . The ophthalmic system according to claim 47 , wherein said coating is a hard exterior coating.
