Abstract
A method and apparatus for paging group handling includes grouping wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) into a paging group. The paging group is assigned a paging occasion, and an existence of a page is indicated to the WTRUs.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for determining paging frames for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
deriving a first value from a second value modulo a third value, wherein the second value is derived from an international mobile subscriber identification (IMSI) of the WTRU and the third value is derived from a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle of the WTRU; deriving a fourth value from dividing a fifth value by the third value; determining paging frames from the first value and the fourth value; and monitoring, by the WTRU, for pages in the determined paging frames.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the WTRU is a long term evolution (LTE) WTRU.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the paging frames are referenced to system frame numbers.
4 . The method of claim 1 further comprising determining paging occasions based on the determined paging frames.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the WTRU is in an idle mode.
6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the WTRU is in discontinuous reception in frames other than the paging frame.
7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the DRX cycle of the WTRU is different than the DRX cycle of other WTRUs.
8 . A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
a processor, operatively coupled to a transmitter and a receiver, configured to derive a first value from a second value modulo a third value, wherein the second value is derived from an international mobile subscriber identification (IMSI) of the WTRU and the third value is derived from a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle of the WTRU; the processor further configured to derive a fourth value from dividing a fifth value by the third value; the processor further configured to derive paging frames based on the first value and the fourth value; and the processor and the receiver are configured to monitor for pages in the derived paging frames.
9 . The WTRU of claim 8 wherein the WTRU is a long term evolution (LTE) WTRU.
10 . The WTRU of claim 8 wherein the paging frames are referenced to system frame numbers.
11 . The WTRU of claim 8 wherein the processor is further configured to determine paging occasions based on the determined paging frames.
12 . The WTRU of claim 8 wherein the WTRU is in an idle mode.
13 . The WTRU of claim 8 wherein the WTRU is in discontinuous reception in frames other than the paging frame.
14 . The WTRU of claim 8 wherein the DRX cycle of the WTRU is different than the DRX cycle of other WTRUs.
15 . A network device comprising:
a processor configured to derive a first value from a second value modulo a third value, wherein the second value is derived from an international mobile subscriber identification (IMSI) of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and the third value is derived from a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle of the WTRU; the processor further configured to derive a fourth value from dividing a fifth value by the third value; the processor further configured to derive paging frames based on the first value and the fourth value; and the processor further configured to page the WTRU in the derived paging frames.
16 . The network device of claim 15 wherein the network device is a long term evolution (LTE) network device.
17 . The network device of claim 15 wherein the paging frames are referenced to system frame numbers.
18 . The network device of claim 15 wherein the process is further configured to determine paging occasions based on the determined paging frames.
19 . The network device of claim 15 wherein the WTRU is in an idle mode.Cited by (0)
