Abstract

A method is provided for automatic generation of achievement objects corresponding to the achievement of a user in a computer implemented game which encapsulates renderable event sequence data defining a sequence of events graphically illustrating the achievement of the user. The generation of renderable event sequence data and the creation of achievement objects may be in automatic response to the detection of an achievement by a user within the context of the computer implemented game. Achievement objects, once generated, may be posted to a news feed or an electronic leaderboard for viewing by users of an online gaming community. In some embodiments, achievement objects may be customized such as through an editor interface that facilitates insertion of text, video, or audio comments. Achievement objects may also be commented on in the form of other achievement objects, having their own renderable event sequence.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising
responsive to detection of an achievement of a user within a context of a computer-implemented game:
generating renderable event sequence data defining a sequence of events graphically illustrating the achievement of the user; and
creating an achievement object corresponding to the achievement of the user, wherein the achievement object encapsulates the renderable event sequence data.

2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising posting the achievement object to a news feed.

3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising posting the achievement object to an electronic leaderboard.

4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the achievement object comprises an executable code object operative to define a graphical representation of the achievement object including a display area, and render at least a portion of the renderable event sequence data in the display area.

5 . The method of claim 2 further comprising transmitting a graphical representation of the achievement object to a remote host, wherein the graphical representation comprises a rendered image of the event sequence and includes at least one activatable region that causes the remote host to access and render the event sequence.

6 . The method of claim 2 wherein the automatically generating step comprises inserting additional animation data into the renderable event sequence data, wherein the additional animation data comprises animated sequences related to an event but generated outside the context of a game instance.

7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the achievement object is customizable.

8 . The method of claim 1 wherein the renderable event sequence data of the achievement object corresponds to one or more events that define the achievement.

9 . The method of claim 8 further comprising accessing one or more game state parameters corresponding to one or more actions that define each of the one or more events and generating animated event sequence data for the one or more events based at least in part on the one or more game state parameters.

10 . The method of claim 1 further comprising capturing, under control of game logic, one or more game state parameters corresponding to one or more actions that define an event, wherein one or more events define the achievement.

11 . The method of claim 1 further comprising providing an editor interface facilitating the customization of the achievement object.

12 . The method of claim 11 wherein the editor interface allows for insertion of text comments to one or more animated event sequences of the achievement object.

13 . The method of claim 11 wherein the editor interface allows for insertion of audio comments to one or more animated event sequences of the achievement object.

14 . The method of claim 11 wherein the editor interface allows for insertion of video comments to one or more animated event sequences of the achievement object.

15 . The method of claim 1 wherein the achievement object allows for the insertion of one or more inputs, the one or more inputs comprising another achievement object.

16 . A computer readable storage medium encoded with instructions executable by a processor, the instructions comprising:
an achievement object corresponding to an achievement of a user within a context of a computer-implemented game; wherein the achievement object encapsulates renderable event sequence data defining a sequence of events graphically illustrating the achievement of the user.
