Abstract

A jet aerator ( 1 ) having an aerator housing ( 8 ) that can be installed in the water discharge of a sanitary outlet fitting, and having a jet splitter ( 12 ) in the interior of the housing, dividing the inflowing water flow into a plurality of individual jets, a mixing zone ( 14 ) being disposed downstream of the splitter for aerating the individual jets, wherein at least one aerator duct ( 16 ) is provided that ends in the mixing zone ( 14 ). The jet aerator has a throttle or closing piece ( 18 ) for reducing and/or optionally activating or deactivating the aerating function, the throttle or closing piece being displaceable between an open position opening the at least one aerating duct ( 16 ) and a throttle or closing position at least partially closing the at least one aerating duct ( 16 ) by a rotary and/or sliding movement.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . Sanitary unit comprising a jet aerator ( 3 , 4 , 5 ) which has an aerator housing ( 8 ) which can be inserted into a water outlet of a sanitary outlet fitting and which has a jet splitter ( 12 ) located in an interior of the housing which separates the incoming water flow into a multiplicity of individual jets and downstream of which at an outflow side is positioned a mixing zone ( 14 ) for aerating the individual jets, with at least one aerating duct ( 16 ) which opens out in the mixing zone ( 14 ) being provided, and having a throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) which, for at least one of throttling or selectively activating or deactivating the aerating function, can be varied in terms of a relative position thereof with respect to the aerator housing ( 8 ), an outlet mouthpiece ( 9 ) which can be mounted on the water outlet of the outlet fitting, the jet aerator ( 3 , 4 , 5 ) is insertable into the outlet mouthpiece ( 9 ), the at least one aerating duct ( 16 ) is defined, at least in sections, extending from at least one duct inlet at a water outflow end of the jet aerator between the outlet mouthpiece ( 9 ) and the aerator housing ( 8 ), the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) including axially extending projections on an outer surface thereof that, at least in sections, form walls of the at least one aerating duct ( 16 ), and the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) is movable, by at least one of a rotational or axial sliding movement, between an open position, in which the at least one aerating duct ( 16 ) is open, and a throttling or closed position, in which the at least one aerating duct ( 16 ) is at least partially closed, and the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ), in the throttling or closed position, at least partially closes off the at least one aerating duct ( 16 ) in at least one of a region of at least one duct orifice, which leads to the mixing zone ( 14 ), of said aerating duct ( 16 ) or in a region of the at least one duct inlet ( 19 ) of said aerating duct ( 16 ).

2 . The sanitary unit of claim 1 , wherein the jet aerator ( 3 , 4 , 7 ) has, on a periphery of the aerator housing ( 8 ), at least one orifice opening ( 17 ) which leads to the mixing zone ( 14 ), and the sleeve-shaped throttling or closing piece ( 18 ), in the throttling or closed position, at least partially closes off the at least one orifice opening ( 17 ).

3 . The sanitary unit of claim 1 , wherein the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) is latchable in at least one of the open position or in the throttling or the closed position via at least one projection on at least one of the aerator housing ( 8 ) or the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) being engageable in at least one corresponding recess in the other of the at least one of the aerator housing ( 8 ) or the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ).

4 . The sanitary unit of claim 1 , wherein the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) is axially slidable, and includes passage openings ( 26 ) located between the axially extending projections, which in the open position are aligned with orifice openings ( 17 ) in the aerator housing which lead to the mixing zone ( 14 ).

5 . The sanitary unit of claim 4 , wherein the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) is latchable in the open position and in the throttling or the closed position via at least two axially spaced apart projections on the aerator housing ( 8 ) which define the open position and the closed position being engageable in at least one corresponding recess in the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ).

6 . The sanitary unit of claim 1 , wherein the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) is rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the sanitary unit, and includes passage openings ( 26 ) located between the axially extending projections, which in the open position are aligned with orifice openings ( 17 ) in the aerator housing which lead to the mixing zone ( 14 ).

7 . The sanitary unit of claim 6 , wherein the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) is latchable in the open position and in the throttling or the closed position via at least two peripherally spaced apart recesses on the throttling or closing piece ( 18 ) which define the open position and the closed position being engageable by at least one corresponding projection on the aerator housing ( 8 ).
