Displaying Characters and Images Based on Support
Abstract
A user equipment (UE) comprising a display and a processor configured to determine whether the UE supports each indicium of a string of one or more indicia according to a first feature, the string of one or more indicia identifying a network, the processor further configured to display on the display of the UE only the indicia in the string that are supported by the UE. A method implemented on a UE comprising determining whether the UE supports one or more indicium of a string of one or more indicia according to a first feature, the string of one or more indicia identifying a network, and displaying on the display of the UE only the indicia in the string that are supported by the UE.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A user equipment (UE) comprising:
a display; and a processor configured to determine whether the UE supports one or more indicium of a string of one or more indicia according to a first feature, the string of one or more indicia identifying a network, the processor further configured to display on the display of the UE only the indicia in the string that are supported by the UE.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein if none of the indicia in the string are displayed, the UE attempts to display information identifying the network according to a second feature having priority after the first feature.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the first feature is a Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) feature, and wherein the second feature is a Network Identity and Timezone Information (NIZT) feature.
. The UE of claim 3 , wherein based on the first feature the UE receives the string of indicia and a corresponding PLMN identifier (ID) from a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) and store the string of indicia in the USIM, wherein the UE further receives a second PLMN ID in a network broadcast channel (BCCH), and wherein the PLMN ID corresponding to the string of indicia in the USIM matches the second PLMN ID received in the BCCH.
. The UE of claim 4 , wherein the PLMN ID comprises a Mobile Country Code (MMC), a Mobile Network Code (MNC), or both.
. The UE of claim 4 , wherein the PLMN ID is provided by a Location Area ID (LAI).
. The UE of claim 2 , wherein the first feature is a Network Identity and Timezone Information (NIZT) feature, and wherein the second feature is based on using UE stored information.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the UE receives the string of indicia from a network based on the first feature.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the network information corresponding to each supported indicium in the string is displayed in text format, graphic format, or both.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein each indicium in the string that is not supported corresponds to a font type that is not supported by the UE.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein each indicium in the string that is not supported has a format that is not recognized by the UE.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the network information is displayed based on the second feature if the UE does not display text and graphic that is represented by some or all of the indicia in the string.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the indicia comprise one or more alpha-numeric characters, text, partial graphics, images, other identifying indicia, or combinations thereof.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the UE still skips special indicia or group of indicia, including space(s) ‘ ’ or hyphen(s) ‘-’, if they remain to be displayed on their own, and attempts to use a second feature having priority after the first feature to display network information.
. A method implemented on a user equipment (UE) comprising:
determining whether the UE supports one or more indicium of a string of one or more indicia according to a first feature, the string of one or more indicia identifying a network; and displaying on the display of the UE only the indicia in the string that are supported by the UE.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein if none of the indicia in the string are displayed, the UE attempts to display information identifying the network according to a second feature having priority after the first feature.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein the first feature is a Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) feature, and wherein the second feature is a Network Identity and Timezone Information (NIZT) feature.
. The method of claim 17 , wherein based on the first feature the UE receives the string of indicia and a corresponding PLMN identifier (ID) from a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) and store the string of indicia in the USIM, wherein the UE further receives a second PLMN ID in a network broadcast channel (BCCH), and wherein the PLMN ID corresponding to the string of indicia in the USIM matches the second PLMN ID received in the BCCH.
. The method of claim 18 , wherein the PLMN ID comprises a Mobile Country Code (MMC), a Mobile Network Code (MNC), or both.
. The method of claim 18 , wherein the PLMN ID is provided by a Location Area ID (LAI).
. The method of claim 16 , wherein the first feature is a Network Identity and Timezone Information (NIZT) feature, and wherein the second feature is based on using UE stored information.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein the UE receives the string of indicia from a network based on the first feature.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein the network information corresponding to each supported indicium in the string is displayed in text format, graphic format, or both.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein each indicium in the string that is not supported corresponds to a font type that is not supported by the UE.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein each indicium in the string that is not supported has a format that is not recognized by the UE.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein the network information is displayed based on the second feature if the UE does not display text and graphic that is represented by some or all of the indicia in the string.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein the indicia comprise one or more alpha-numeric characters, text, partial graphics, images, other identifying indicia, or combinations thereof.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein the UE still skips special indicia or group of indicia, including space(s) ‘ ’ or hyphen(s) ‘-’, if they remain to be displayed on their own, and attempts to use a second feature having priority after the first feature to display network information.
. A computer readable medium storing computer readable instructions executable by a processor of a computing device to cause said device to implement a method comprising:
determining whether the device supports one or more indicium of a string of one or more indicia according to a first feature, the string of one or more indicia identifying a network; and displaying on the display of the device only the indicia in the string that are supported by the device.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the first feature is a Network Identity and Timezone Information (NIZT) feature.
. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the UE still skips non-latin characters if they remain to be displayed on their own, and attempts to use a second feature having priority after the first feature to display network information.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein the first feature is a Network Identity and Timezone Information (NIZT) feature.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein the UE still skips non-latin characters if they remain to be displayed on their own, and attempts to use a second feature having priority after the first feature to display network information.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
