Abstract
The present invention discloses amino acid sequences and nucleic acid sequences relating to a Streptococcus pneumoniae surface associated Pneumo Protective Protein (PPP) having a molecular weight of about 20 kilo Daltons (kDa). The PPP exhibits the ability to reduce colonization of pneumococcal bacteria. Thus the present invention also pertains to compositions for the treatment and prophylaxis of infection or inflammation associated with bacterial infection.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 41 . (canceled)
42 . An isolated Streptococcus pneumoniae surface associated Pneumo Protective Protein (PPP) comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 5 or a variant amino acid sequence thereof, wherein the variant amino acid sequence has 90% or greater overall sequence similarity to the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 5 and has the ability to reduce colonization of pneumococcal bacteria.
43 . The isolated PPP of claim 42 , where the PPP comprises the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 10-19 and 21.
44 . The isolated PPP of claim 42 , where the PPP is a recombinant protein.
45 . The isolated PPP of claim 42 , where the PPP has an isoelectric point of about 4.587.
46 . The isolated PPP of claim 42 , where the PPP has a charge of about −14.214 at pH 7.
47 . A composition comprising the PPP of claim 42 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
48 . An isolated Streptococcus pneumoniae surface associated Pneumo Protective Protein (PPP) encoded by a nucleic acid sequence comprising the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 4.
49 . The isolated PPP of claim 48 , where the PPP is a recombinant protein.
50 . The isolated PPP of claim 48 , where the PPP has an isoelectric point of about 4.587.
51 . The isolated PPP of claim 48 , where the PPP has a charge of about −14.214 at pH 7.
52 . A composition comprising the PPP of claim 48 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.Cited by (0)
