Abstract

A device implantable into a blood vessel having a filter to prevent particles from passing into a blood vessel, and having bows extending from a horizontal plain of the device, such bows to hold such device in place in a blood vessel.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An intra-vascular device to prevent a particle in the aorta from passing into a second blood vessel, said device comprising;
 a substantially planar filter; and at least one bow extending downwards from a horizontal plane of said filter; wherein said filter is suitable to be held in contact with both an ascending and a descending aorta and at least one of said bows extending downward is configured to contact a medial surface of the ascending or descending aorta.

         2 . The device as in claim 1 , wherein said bows are comprised of continuous wire.

         3 . The device as in claim 1 , wherein the distal and proximal ends of said device bend downwards from the lateral plane.

         4 . The device as in claim 1 , wherein said device further comprises a frame and said filter is affixed to said frame by adhesive.

         5 . The device as in claim 1 , said filter having a plurality of woven fibers.

         6 . The device as in claim 5 , said plurality of woven fibers comprising at least one continuous fiber.

         7 . The device as in claim 1 , wherein said filter comprises a mesh.

         8 . The device as in claim 5 , wherein said device further comprises a frame and said weave of said filter is affixed to said frame at an angle other than a right angle.

         9 . The device as in claim 1 , wherein said filter is capable of being contracted during implantation and expanded upon deployment.

         10 . The device as in claim 1 , comprising a clasp to connect said device to a delivery cable, and wherein upon said connection, said device is rotated clockwise upon a clockwise rotation of said delivery cable, and is rotated counterclockwise upon a counterclockwise rotation of said delivery cable.

         11 . The device as in  claim 1 , comprising a releasable clasp to connect said device to a delivery cable;
 wherein said releasable clasp comprises the combination of a male and female clasp.

         12 . A method of preventing passage of a particle from an aorta into a carotid artery comprising deploying the device of claim 1 in said aorta such that:
 (i) said one or more bows configured to extend downward of said deployed device contacts a medial surface of the ascending or descending aorta;
 (ii) said frame of said deployed device contacts both the ascending aorta and descending aorta;
 wherein said contacting holds said filter in the lumen of said aorta; and
 wherein said deployment of said device prevents passage of particles from said aorta into said carotid artery.

         13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein said contacting holds said filter in the lumen of said aorta away from the orifices of vascular branches of said aorta.
