Abstract
An inorganic fiber having the following composition: 71 wt % to 80 wt % of SiO 2 , 18 wt % to 27 wt % of CaO, 0 to 3 wt % of MgO, and 1.1 wt % to 3.4 wt % of Al 2 O 3 , wherein the amount of each of ZrO 2 and R 2 O 3 (R is selected from Sc, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Y or mixtures thereof) is 0.1 wt % or less, the amount of each alkaline metal oxide is 0.2 wt % or less and the total amount of SiO 2 , CaO, MgO and Al 2 O 3 is 99 wt % or more.

1.1 wt % to 3.4 wt %
wherein the amount of each of ZrO 2 and R 2 O 3 (R is selected from Sc, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Y or mixtures thereof) is 0.1 wt % or less, the amount of each alkaline metal oxide is 0.2 wt % or less and the total amount of SiO 2 , CaO, MgO and Al 2 O 3 is 99 wt % or more.
2 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of each alkaline metal oxide is 0.1 wt % or less.
3 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of each of TiO 2 , ZnO, B 2 O 3 and P 2 O 5 is 0.1 wt % or less.
4 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 2 , wherein the amount of each of TiO 2 , ZnO, B 2 O 3 and P 2 O 5 is 0.1 wt % or less.
5 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of each alkaline metal oxide is larger than 0.01 wt %.
6 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of SiO 2 is 71 wt % to 77 wt %.
7 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 6 , wherein the amount of SiO 2 is 71 wt % to 76 wt %.
8 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of CaO is 20 wt % to 27 wt %.
9 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 8 , wherein the amount of CaO is 21 wt % to 26 wt %.
10 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of Al 2 O 3 is 1.1 wt % to 1.95 wt %.
11 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of Al 2 O 3 is 2.0 wt % to 3.4 wt %.
12 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of Al 2 O 3 is 1.3 wt % to 2.5 wt %.
13 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of SiO 2 is 71.25 wt % or more.
14 . An inorganic fiber having the following composition:
SiO 2
71 wt % to 80 wt %
CaO
18 wt % to 27 wt %
MgO
0 to 3 wt %
Al 2 O 3
2.0 wt % to 3.4 wt %
wherein the amount of each of ZrO 2 and R 2 O 3 (R is selected from Sc, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Y or mixtures thereof) is 0.1 wt % or less, and the total amount of SiO 2 , CaO, MgO and Al 2 O 3 is 99 wt % or more.
15 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 1 , which has an average fiber diameter of 2 μm to 6 μm.
16 . The inorganic fiber according to claim 15 which has an average fiber diameter of 2 μm to 4 μm.
17 . A method of manufacturing the inorganic fiber according to claim 1 which comprises preparing a melt containing SiO 2 , CaO, MgO and Al 2 O 3 , and forming the melt into fiber.
18 . A formed article obtained by using the inorganic fiber according to claim 1 .Cited by (0)
