Abstract

A portable gaming and entertainment system (or “environment”) for use with a game console and related components that allows the user thereof to easily, safely and conveniently transport the system. The system comprises a case having a lid pivotally attached to a base. One or more custom inserts are provided to securely receive the game console therein. The custom inserts permit the system to be usable with a variety of supported game consoles. The lid includes a monitor and speakers, and is operative to be opened and maintained at a position to provide a desirable viewing angle for a user. The lid closes against the base to enclose the game console and other related components so that the user may easily transport and/or store the system.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A portable gaming and entertainment system for use with a supported game console, the portable game and entertainment system comprising:
a case having a base and a lid pivotally attached to each other by a hinge such that the lid may be rotated between a closed position and an opened position; a first custom insert disposed inside the base and defining a first console compartment configured to receive the game console thereon, the first console compartment being further configured to protect the game console from movement while providing access to a front face and a rear face of the game console; a display device coupled to the lid such that a user may view the display device when the lid is in the opened position; and a video port operative to permit the display device to be operatively coupled to the game console.

2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a second custom insert disposed inside the base, the second custom insert being stackable with the first custom insert and defining a second console compartment configured to receive a different game console than the first console compartment, and further configured to protect the different game console from movement while providing access to a front face and a rear face of the different game console.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the base has a front side, a portion of which having a height that is less than half of the total height of the case measured when the case is resting on its base.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the base has a back side, a portion of which having a height that is less than half of the total height of the case measured when the case is resting on its base.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the base has a front portion configured to provide unobstructed access to a front face of the game console when the game console is positioned within the first console compartment of the first custom insert.

6 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising an audio/video panel coupled to the lid and including one or more audio or video ports.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the hinge is positioned at a height that is less than half of the total height of the case measured when the case is resting on its base.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the hinge and the case are configured such that the case will not tip over rearwardly when the case is in the opened position, with or without the gaming console positioned within the case.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the hinge is configured to support the lid so as to dispose the display device towards a front side of the case and position the lid tilted rearward at an angle greater than 90 degrees relative to a horizontal plane for indefinite viewing of the display device.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the angle of the lid is between 100 degrees and 110 degrees relative to the horizontal plane.

11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the base is configured to provide sufficient air flow to the game console while providing access to features located on a front face and a rear face of the game console.

12 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a handle coupled to the case and configured to allow a user to carry the case when in the closed position.

13 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a container selectively attachable to and within the case and configured to receive one or more components related to the game console or display device.

14 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a speaker operatively couplable to the game console.

15 . The system of claim 14 wherein the speaker is mounted to the lid for movement therewith.

16 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the case further comprises a locking means for selectively locking the case in the closed position.

17 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a securing means to selectively secure the game console to the case.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the securing means comprises one or more adjustable straps that each include hook and loop fasteners.

19 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the display device includes an integrated audio output device.

20 . A portable gaming and entertainment system for use with a supported game console one of a first size or a smaller second size, the portable game and entertainment system comprising:
a case having a base and a lid pivotally attached to each other by a hinge such that the lid may be rotated between a closed position and an opened position, the hinge being positioned at a height that is less than half of the total height of the case measured when the case is resting on its base; a first custom insert removably disposed inside the base and defining a first console compartment with a first recess sized to removably receive the game console of the first size therein, the first console compartment being further configured to protect the game console of the first size from movement while providing access to a front face and a rear face of the game console of the first size; a second custom insert that is removably stackable upon the first custom insert inside the base and defines a second console compartment with a second recess smaller than the first recess and sized to removably receive the game console of the second size therein, the second console compartment being further configured to protect the game console of the second size from movement while providing access to a front face and a rear face of the game console of the second size; a display device coupled to the lid such that a user may view the display device when the lid is in the opened position; and a video port operative to permit the display device to be operatively coupled to the game console of the first or second size.

21 . A portable gaming and entertainment system for use with a supported game console, the portable game and entertainment system comprising:
