Abstract

Use of a rapamycin derivative of formula I as defined in the claims for preventing or treating vasculopathies and manifestations of xenotransplantation.

1 . A method for preventing or treating:
 vascular surgery induced neointimal proliferation and thickening and/or restenosis and/or vascular occlusion comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of 40-O-(2-hydroxy)ethyl-rapamycin.   
     
     
         2 . A method according to  claim 1  for preventing or treating neointimal proliferation and thickening. 
     
     
         3 . A method according to  claim 1  for preventing or treating restenosis and/or vascular occlusion. 
     
     
         4 . A method according to  claim 1  for preventing or treating vascular occlusion. 
     
     
         5 . A method according to  claim 1 , wherein the vascular surgery is angioplasty.
