Abstract

Nutritional compositions with fucosyllactose and betagalactooligosaccharides for use in stimulation of the immune system. The composition is suitable for infants.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A nutritional composition, comprising fucosyllactose and betagalacto-oligosaccharides, wherein the composition is not human milk.

. The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , further comprising fructo-oligosaccharides and/or uronic acid oligosaccharides.

. The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , further comprising fructo-oligosaccharides and uronic acid oligosaccharides.

. The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , wherein the fucosyllactose comprises 2′-fucosyllactose.

. The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , wherein the betagalacto-oligosaccharides have over 80% beta 1,4 and beta 1,6 linkages.

. The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , comprising protein, digestible carbohydrates and fat, wherein protein provides 5 to 50%, digestible carbohydrates provide 15 to 85%, and fat provides 5 to 50% of calories based on total calories.

. The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , comprising 0.07 to 1 wt. % of the 2′-fucosyllactose based on dry weight of the composition.

. The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , wherein the composition is an infant formula.

. A method of providing nutrition comprising administering to a mammal in need thereof a composition according to claim 1 .

. The method according to claim 9 , wherein the mammal is a human infant, an elderly person, an oncology patient and/or a HIV patient.

. A method of stimulating the immune system, comprising administering to a mammal in need thereof a composition according to claim 1 .

. A method of enhancement of a vaccination response in a mammal, comprising administering to the mammal a composition according to claim 1 .

. A method of treatment and/or prevention of infections and/or disease, comprising administering to a mammal in need thereof a composition according to claim 1 .

. A method of treatment and/or prevention of an immune disorder selected from the group consisting of asthma, allergy, atopic dermatitis, allergic conjunctivitis, dust mite allergy, urticaria and allergic rhinitis, comprising administering to a mammal in need thereof a composition according to claim 1 .

. The nutritional composition according to claim 2 , comprising 0.25 wt % to 15 wt % of the sum of betagalacto-oligosaccharides, fructo-oligosaccharides and uronic acid oligosaccharides, based on dry weight of the composition.

. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the immune system stimulation comprises increasing Th1 response and/or increasing Th1/Th2 balance.
