Abstract

A novel system for automated metadata generation of learning and knowledge Objects are presented. Such system automates the processes of adding descriptive and contextual information to digital learning content, digital documents, and other objects used in learning and knowledge management. It also automates the process of creating associations among higher level objects and classifications systems used to organize content, and it does so in a way that improves the functionality of existing technologies, that can be tuned to meet the needs of a particular organization or community of practice, and that can be extended and refined to take advantage of new information retrieval technologies. It includes methods that handle aggregate digital objects composed of a plurality of other objects and that improves efficiency by caching data and recognizing the relationships among aggregate objects and their components.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user, said system comprising:
a host application; a service layer; an analysis engine; wherein metadata is entered by a user; wherein said metadata is passed to said service layer by said host application, along with an identification of a document or with said document; said analysis engine retrieves said document and uses said document with said metadata to generate new metadata; wherein said new metadata is passed to said service layer; said service layer passes said new metadata to said host application; said analysis engine identifies quality metrics; and said quality metrics are used to decide whether to keep or modify said metadata.

2 . A system for analyzing content objects, said system comprising:
a host application; a service layer; an analysis engine; a content object matching module; wherein a content object comprises a knowledge object, a learning object, or a training record; said content object matching module matches said content object to taxonomies of skills, competencies, educational standards, or training requirements, using said analysis engine; said host application sends a request to said content object matching module through said service layer; said analysis engine uses semantic processing and multiple information retrieval routines to determine a degree to which said content object matches some or all of elements of said taxonomies of skills, competencies, educational standards, or training requirements; and said content object matching module returns matches or said degree to said host application through said service layer.

3 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system communicates with a job matching module.

4 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system communicates to Internet.

5 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system is connected to a storage device.

6 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system processes resumes.

7 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system reviews regulations and laws.

8 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system comprises a configuration module.

9 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system processes semantic algorithms.

10 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system caches data.

11 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system processes corporate policies.

12 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system organizes content.

13 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system comprises a metadata generator.

14 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system comprises an information aggregation heuristics unit.

15 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system comprises an information retrieval harness.

16 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system comprises a database.

17 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system comprises an object aggregator or an object disaggregator.

18 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system processes one or more sub-objects.

19 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system performs consistency analysis.

20 . The system for improving quality of metadata entered by a user as recited in claim 1 , wherein said system processes integrated services.
