Abstract

The invention concerns the use of a virus for the preparation of a medicament for the vaccination or treatment of a human, wherein the virus is capable of infecting the cells of the human, but not capable of being replicated to infectious progeny virus in the human. The virus is preferably a Modified Vaccinia Virus Ankara.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
- 59 . (canceled)

. A method of immunizing a human with an MVA virus comprising administering a first, priming inoculation and a second, boosting inoculation of the MVA virus to the human;
wherein the MVA prime/MVA boost regime induces the same or higher CTL response than a DNA prime/MVA boost regime.

. The method of claim 60 , wherein the MVA virus is a recombinant MVA virus.

. The method of claim 60 , wherein the human is a neonate.

. The method of claim 61 , wherein the human is a neonate.

. The method of claim 61 , wherein the recombinant MVA virus encodes a heterologous viral antigen.

. The method of claim 63 , wherein the recombinant MVA virus encodes a heterologous viral antigen.

. The method of claim 61 , wherein the recombinant MVA virus encodes a tumor antigen.

. The method of claim 63 , wherein the recombinant MVA virus encodes a tumor antigen.

. The method of claim 61 , wherein the recombinant MVA virus encodes a bacterial antigen.

. The method of claim 63 , wherein the recombinant MVA virus encodes a bacterial antigen.

. The method of claim 61 , wherein the recombinant MVA virus encodes a fungal antigen.

. The method of claim 63 , wherein the recombinant MVA virus encodes a fungal antigen.

. The method of claim 60 , wherein the MVA virus is MVA 575.

. The method of claim 60 , wherein the MVA virus is MVA-BN.

. The method of claim 60 , wherein the MVA virus does not replicate in the immunized human.

. The method of claim 61 , wherein the MVA virus does not replicate in the immunized human.

. The method of claim 62 , wherein the MVA virus does not replicate in the immunized human.

. The method of claim 63 , wherein the MVA virus does not replicate in the immunized human.

. The method of claim 60 , wherein the MVA virus shows only residual replication activity that is controlled by the immune system of the immunized human.

. The method of claim 61 , wherein the MVA virus shows only residual replication activity that is controlled by the immune system of the immunized human.

. The method of claim 62 , wherein the MVA virus shows only residual replication activity that is controlled by the immune system of the immunized human.

. The method of claim 63 , wherein the MVA virus shows only residual replication activity that is controlled by the immune system of the immunized human.
