Abstract

The present invention relates to methods for degrading or converting a cellulosic material and for producing a substance from a cellulosic material.

1 . A detergent composition comprising a polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity selected from the group consisting of:
 (a) a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 95% identity with the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2;   (b) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence having at least 95% sequence identity with the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1;   (c) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide that hybridizes under at least high stringency conditions with (i) the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, (ii) the genomic DNA sequence thereof, or (iii) the full-length complement of (i) or (ii), wherein high stringency conditions are defined as prehybridization and hybridization at 42° C. in 5×SSPE, 0.3% SDS, 200 μg/ml sheared and denatured salmon sperm DNA, and 50% formamide and washing three times each for 15 minutes using 2×SSC, 0.2% SDS at 65° C.;   (d) a. polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 or the mature polypeptide thereof; or a fragment thereof having cellulolytic enhancing activity; and   (e) a. polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity encoded by a polynucleotide comprising SEQ ID NO: 1 or the mature polypeptide coding sequence thereof; or a subsequence thereof that encodes a polypeptide fragment having cellulolytic enhancing activity.   
     
     
         2 . The detergent composition of  claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 95% identity with the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2. 
     
     
         3 . The detergent composition of  claim 2 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 96% identity with the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2. 
     
     
         4 . The detergent composition of  claim 3 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 97% identity with the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2. 
     
     
         5 . The detergent composition of  claim 4 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 98% identity with the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2. 
     
     
         6 . The detergent composition of  claim 5 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 99% identity with the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2. 
     
     
         7 . The detergent composition of  claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence having at least 95% sequence identity with the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. 
     
     
         8 . The detergent composition of  claim 7 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence having at least 96% sequence identity with the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. 
     
     
         9 . The detergent composition of  claim 8 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence having at least 97% sequence identity with the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. 
     
     
         10 . The detergent composition of  claim 9 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence having at least 98% sequence identity with the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. 
     
     
         11 . The detergent composition of  claim 10 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence having at least 99% sequence identity with the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. 
     
     
         12 . The detergent composition of  claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by a polynucleotide which hybridizes under at least high stringency conditions with (i) the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, (ii) the genomic DNA sequence comprising the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, or (iii) a complementary strand of (i) or (ii), wherein high stringency conditions are defined as prehybridization and hybridization at 42° C. in 5×SSPE, 0.3% SDS, 200 μg/ml sheared and denatured salmon sperm DNA, and 50% formamide and washing three times each for 15 minutes using 2×SSC, 0.2% SDS at 65° C. 
     
     
         13 . The detergent composition of  claim 12 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by a polynucleotide which hybridizes under at least very high stringency conditions with (i) the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, (ii) the genomic DNA sequence comprising the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, or (iii) a complementary strand of (i) or (ii), wherein very high stringency conditions are defined as prehybridization and hybridization at 42° C. in 5×SSPE, 0.3% SDS, 200 μg/ml sheared and denatured salmon sperm DNA, and 50% formamide and washing three times each for 15 minutes using 2×SSC, 0.2% SDS at 70° C. 
     
     
         14 . The detergent composition of  claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 or the mature polypeptide thereof; or a fragment thereof having cellulolytic enhancing activity. 
     
     
         15 . The detergent composition of  claim 14 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity consists of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 or the mature polypeptide thereof. 
     
     
         16 . The detergent composition of  claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by a polynucleotide comprising SEQ ID NO: 1 or the mature polypeptide coding sequence thereof; or a subsequence thereof that encodes a polypeptide fragment having cellulolytic enhancing activity. 
     
     
         17 . The detergent composition of  claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide having cellulolytic enhancing activity is encoded by the polynucleotide contained in plasmid pTr3337 which is contained in  E. coli  NRRL B-30878. 
     
     
         18 . The detergent composition of  claim 1 , wherein the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 is nucleotides 77 to 766 of SEQ ID NO: 1. 
     
     
         19 . The detergent composition of  claim 1 , wherein the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2 is amino acids 20 to 249 of SEQ ID NO: 2.
