Abstract

A gaming system comprises a game controller arranged to control play of a game having a player skill aspect, and a display arranged to display a representation of the game, the game controller being arranged to control the display to display a set of symbols for selection, the game controller being responsive to the player skill aspect to facilitate selection of at least one of the symbols, a skill level factor of the player skill aspect being variable depending on operation of a game, whereby to vary a skill level required by the player.

         30 . A gaming system for playing a reel game having a plurality of reels, each reel having a plurality of symbols, the gaming system comprising:
 a display configured to display a spinning of the reels thereby selecting a subset of the symbols for display for the reels, at least one of the reels including a tell symbol preceding a win symbol while spinning;   a skill stop, operating under a skill level, and in responsive to a player actuation while the at least one reel is spinning, configured to vary said spinning of the at least one reel on the display to a stop thereby further selecting symbols from said selected symbols on the at least one reel; and   a skill factor controller configured to adjust the skill level factor in response to the further selected symbol being the win symbol.   
     
     
         31 . A method of gaming for use with a gaming machine playing a reel game on a display via a gaming controller, wherein the reel game having a skill stop and a plurality of reels, and each reel having a plurality of symbols, and wherein the skill stop operates under a skill level, the method comprising:
 displaying a spinning of the reels thereby selecting a subset of the symbols for display for the reels, at least one of the reels including a tell symbol preceding a win symbol while spinning;   in responsive to a player actuation of the skill stop while the at least one reel is spinning, varying said spinning of the at least one reel on the display to a stop thereby further selecting symbols from said selected symbols on the at least one reel; and   adjusting the skill level factor in response to the further selected symbol being the win symbol.
