Methods and products for analyzing polymers are provided. The methods include methods for determining various other structural properties of the polymers.

         161 . A method for analyzing a nucleotide polymer including linked nucleotide units, the method comprising:
 moving a plurality of nucleotide units of the nucleotide polymer through a nanochannel by applying a voltage potential between first and second electrodes disposed in first and second chambers on opposite sides of the nanochannel and in fluid communication with the nanochannel; and   detecting sequentially signals arising from a detectable physical change in the polymer or a station as individual nucleotide units of the plurality of nucleotide units pass the station.
