Claims
Abstract
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for multiplexing code division and frequency division transmissions. One embodiment of the method includes accessing at least one first symbol and at least one second symbol, encoding the at least one first symbol according to a frequency division protocol, and encoding the at least one second symbol using a coding sequence having a cyclic correlation property. The method also includes transmitting a radiofrequency signal indicative of the at least one encoded first symbol and the at least one encoded second symbol.

21 . A method, comprising:
transmitting, from a transmission device during a transmission time interval (TTI), at least one first encoded symbol from a first data stream when a TTI identifier indicates that dedicated channel resources are used during the TTI; and transmitting, from the transmission device during the TTI, said at least one second encoded symbol from a second data stream when the TTI identifier indicates that shared channel resources are used during the TTI, wherein said at least one second encoded symbol is encoded using a coding sequence generated using a cyclic shift of an initial sequence.
22 . The method of claim 21 , comprising determining whether wireless transmissions from the transmission device during the TTI are to be performed using dedicated channel resources or shared channel resources and switching between transmissions of first and second encoded symbols from the first and second data streams based on the determination.
23 . The method of claim 22 , comprising using a hybrid automatic repeat request identifier associated with the TTI to determine whether wireless transmissions from the transmission device during the TTI are to be performed using dedicated or shared channel resources.
24 . A method, comprising:
decoding, at a receiver, information indicative of at least one encoded symbol received during a transmission time interval (TTI) using a first demodulation/decoding branch of the receiver when a TTI identifier indicates that dedicated channel resources are used to transmit said information during the TTI; and decoding, at the receiver, said information indicative of said at least one encoded symbol using a second demodulation/decoding branch of the receiver when the TTI identifier indicates that shared channel resources are used to transmit said information during the TTI, wherein said at least one encoded symbol is encoded using a coding sequence generated using a cyclic shift of an initial sequence.

The method of claim 24 , comprising determining whether wireless transmissions from the transmission device during the TTI are performed using dedicated channel resources or shared channel resources and switching between the coding said information using the first and second branches based on the determination.
26 . The method of claim 25 , comprising using a hybrid automatic repeat request identifier associated with the TTI to determine whether wireless transmissions received by the receiver during the TTI are performed using dedicated or shared channel resources.Cited by (0)
