Claims

Abstract

A solid or phase change inkjet ink incorporating a polar acidic wax is described. The use of polar waxes as an ink additive improves the polarity of the ink and adhesion of the ink to paper. A method for applying the solid or phase change ink incorporating an acidic polar wax additive to form an image is also described.

1 . An ink composition comprising:
 at least one wax, wherein the at least one wax includes a polar wax having at least one acidic group, wherein the polar wax has an acid number of greater than 0 mgKOH/g and a melting temperature of from about 60° C. to about 100° C., and wherein the at least one polar wax is carnauba wax;   at least one fatty amide;   at least one antioxidant; and   at least one solvent dye colorant.   
     
     
         2 . The ink composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the at least one fatty amide comprises both stearyl stearamide and ethylene bis-oleamide. 
     
     
         3 . The ink composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the at least one wax further comprises a Fischer-Tropsch wax. 
     
     
         4 . The ink composition according to  claim 2 , wherein the at least one wax further comprises a Fischer-Tropsch wax.
