Abstract

A multicast broadcast service controller is disclosed. The MBSC processes multicast broadcast data streams for transmission to access service network gateways or base stations. The MBSC includes a MBSC core processor for establishing time synchronization information used the by the access service network gateways or base stations to synchronously transmit data streams. The MBSC core processor selects streams for transmission in a time diversity interval (TDI) and builds multicast broadcast (MBS) region content based on the selected streams and configuration information. The MBS region content includes timing synchronization information, resource information and MBS region content location information. A MBS region distribution module (MRD) transmits the MBS region content to the access service network gateways or base stations.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for processing a multicast broadcast data stream, comprising:
establishing a time basis to synchronize transmission of multicast broadcast (MBS) region content by base stations; receiving the multicast broadcast data stream; selecting at least one substream of the multicast broadcast data stream for inclusion in a time diversity interval (TDI); building the MBS region content based on the at least one substream and configuration information, wherein the MBS region content includes timing information based on the time basis, resource information, and MBS region content location information; and transmitting the MBS region content to the base stations.

2 . The method as in claim 1 , wherein the MBS region content includes waveform data and modulation code schemes on a per substream basis.

3 . The method as in claim 1 , further comprising:
determining that a transmission delay for a first packet to be scheduled for the TDI is within a predetermined number.

4 . The method as in claim 1 , wherein the multicast broadcast data streams represents wide coverage area zones, further comprising transmitting frame and symbol information in the MBS region content for use in constrained scheduling by the base stations.

5 . The method as in claim 1 , wherein building the MBS region content comprises applying outer code encoding to data packets corresponding to the at least one substream.

6 . The method as in claim 1 , wherein building the MBS region content comprises scrambling outer code encoded data packets corresponding to the at least one substream.

7 . The method as in claim 6 , wherein building the MBS region content comprises extracting packet data units for scrambled outer code encoded data packets corresponding to the at least one substream.

8 . The method as in claim 7 , wherein building the MBS region content comprises jointly scheduling related substreams in the TDI.

9 . The method as in claim 1 , wherein the multicast broadcast data streams represents wide coverage area zones, further comprising transmitting allocation information for use by the base stations for non-overlapping scheduling.

10 . The method as in claim 1 , further comprising transmitting at least one substream mapping information with respect to the TDI.

11 . A multicast broadcast service controller (MBSC) for processing a multicast broadcast data stream, comprising:
a MBSC core processor configured to establish a time basis to synchronize transmission of multicast broadcast (MBS) region content by base stations; an input interface for receiving the multicast broadcast data stream and sending the multicast broadcast data stream to the MBSC core; the MBSC core configured to select at least one substream from the multicast broadcast data streams for inclusion in a time diversity interval (TDI); the MBSC core configured to build the MBS region content based on the at least one substream and configuration information, wherein the MBS region content includes timing information based on the time basis, resource information and MBS region content location information; and a MBS region distribution module (MRD) configured to transmit the MBS region content to the base stations.

12 . The MBSC as in claim 11 , wherein the MBS region content includes waveform data and modulation code schemes on a per substream basis.

13 . The MBSC as in claim 11 , further comprising a MBSC scheduler configured to determine that a transmission delay for a first packet to be scheduled for the TDI is within a predetermined number.
