Abstract

A drop terminal mounting system includes a fiber drop terminal having a housing and a base attached to the housing. The housing includes an outer surface containing a plurality of receptacles and cooperatively defines an inner cavity with the base. The drop terminal mounting system further includes a bracket having a first fastening region and a second fastening region adapted to secure the drop terminal to the bracket.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

         21 . A drop terminal mounting system comprising:
 a drop terminal including:
 a housing coupled to a base to define an interior, wherein the base and the housing define a first end and an oppositely disposed second end separated by a longitudinal length;
 a plurality of output receptacles mounted to with each output receptacle having a first side and a second side, each of the first and second sides being adapted to receive a connector, the first side of the output receptacles being accessible from an exterior of the housing, and the second side of the output receptacles being accessible from an interior of the housing
 an incoming fiber group disposed in the interior cavity of the drop terminal and extending at least partially along the longitudinal length, wherein the incoming fiber group includes a plurality of connectors engaged with the second sides of the output receptacles; and
   an intermediate bracket adapted to mount the drop terminal to a mounting structure, the intermediate bracket enabling the drop terminal to be releasably secured to the intermediate bracket without the use of a tool.

         22 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the base is disposed against the bracket such that the front side of the housing faces outwardly from the bracket.

         23 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the intermediate bracket includes a latch that aids in securing the drop terminal to the bracket.

         24 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the intermediate bracket defines a keyed receptacle.

         25 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 24 , wherein the base of the drop terminal includes a mounting post adapted for engagement with the keyed receptacle.

         26 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the interior cavity of the drop terminal is sealed from an exterior of the drop terminal.

         27 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 26 , wherein the interior cavity is sealed by a sealing device disposed between the base and the housing.

         28 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the drop terminal is releasable secured to the intermediate bracket with at least one cable tie.

         29 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the mounting structure is a substantially vertical structure.

         30 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the housing defines a plurality of stepped faces, wherein the output receptacles are mounted to the stepped faces of the housing.

         31 . A drop terminal mounting system comprising:
 a drop terminal including:
 a housing coupled to a base to define an interior;
 a plurality of output receptacles mounted to with each output receptacle having a first side and a second side, each of the first and second sides being adapted to receive a connector, the first side of the output receptacles being accessible from an exterior of the housing, and the second side of the output receptacles being accessible from an interior of the housing;
 at least one mounting post extending outwardly from the base;
 an incoming fiber group disposed in the interior cavity of the drop terminal, wherein the incoming fiber group includes a plurality of connectors engaged with the second sides of the output receptacles; and
   an intermediate bracket adapted for mounting to a mounting structure, wherein the bracket defines a keyed receptacle adapted to receive the mounting post of the drop terminal.

         32 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 31 , wherein each mounting post includes a shaft and a head that is larger than the shaft.

         33 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 31 , wherein the keyed receptacle defines a top portion sized to receive the head and a lower portion sized to receive the shaft but not the head.

         34 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 31 , wherein the intermediate bracket is configured to be fastened to the mounting surface using a tool.

         35 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 31 , wherein the mounting structure is a substantially vertical structure.

         36 . The drop terminal mounting system as claimed in claim 31 , wherein the interior of the drop terminal is sealed from an exterior of the drop terminal by a sealing member disposed between the housing and the base.
