Abstract

Devices for connection to a dental evacuation system and methods of manufacturing the same. In one example, a dental evacuation device for connection to a dental evacuation system includes an elongated body having a central passageway extending through the body, a protective tip disposed over and extending from an end of the body member, and a screening device positioned within the central passageway. The protective tip can define an aperture configured to provide access to the central passageway and can include a blunt ridge circumscribing the defined aperture. In one example, the screening device is offset from the protective tip to form a receiving space within the central passageway therebetween.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An evacuation device comprising:
an elongated body having a first end, a second end, an inner surface defining a passageway between the first end and the second end, and an outer surface including a first portion that is depressed toward an axis of the passageway relative to a second portion of the outer surface; and a protective tip coupled to the elongated body and disposed over at least a portion of the outer surface and at least a portion of the inner surface of the elongated body.

2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the protective tip is non-releasably secured to the elongated body.

3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the protective tip is disposed over the first portion of the outer surface of the elongated body.

4 . The device of claim 3 , wherein the protective tip is molded to the elongated body.

5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the elongated body comprises an aperture extending through the outer surface and the inner surface.

6 . The device of claim 5 , further comprising a screening device positioned within the passageway of the elongated body between the first end and the second end.

7 . The device of claim 6 , wherein the screening device is disposed nearer to the second end of the elongated body than the second end of the elongated body.

8 . The device of claim 7 , wherein the protective tip is disposed over the second end of the elongated body.

9 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the screening device is disposed between the aperture and the protective tip.

10 . The device of claim 9 , further comprising a receiving space disposed between the screening device and the protective tip.

11 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the elongated body comprises a first material, wherein the protective tip comprises a second material, and wherein the first material is different from the second material.

12 . An evacuation device comprising:
an elongated body having a first end, a second end, an inner surface defining a passageway between the first end and the second end, and an outer surface including a first portion that is depressed toward an axis of the passageway relative to a second portion of the outer surface; and a means for protecting a patient from the first end of the elongated body, the protective means coupled to the elongated body and disposed over at least a portion of the outer surface and at least a portion of the inner surface of the elongated body.

13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the protective means is disposed over the first portion of the outer surface of the elongated body.

14 . The device of claim 12 , further comprising a means for screening the passageway of the elongated body.

15 . An evacuation device comprising:
an elongated body having a first end, a second end, an inner surface defining a passageway between the first end and the second end, an outer surface, and an aperture extending through the outer surface and the inner surface; a screen positioned within the passageway of the elongated body between the second end and the aperture, the screen being disposed nearer to the second end of the elongated body than the first end.

16 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the screen and the second end of the elongated body define a receiving space therebetween for catching objects that enter the passageway through the second end and that cannot pass through the screen.

17 . The device of claim 15 , further comprising a protective tip coupled to the elongated body and disposed over at least a portion of the outer surface and at least a portion of the inner surface of the elongated body.

18 . The device of claim 17 , wherein the outer surface of the elongated body includes a first portion that is depressed toward an axis of the passageway relative to a second portion of the outer surface.

19 . The device of claim 18 , wherein the protective tip is disposed over the first portion of the outer surface of the elongated body.

20 . The device of claim 19 , wherein the protective tip is molded to the elongated body.
