Abstract
A device and method for manufacturing in one working stroke in one working direction (A) a can body with cylindrical wall and a neck section of lower diameter. The device has a drivable drawing ring used for deep-drawing of a cup from a round, disk-like blank in a first phase of the working stroke. The cup is drawn with an ironing mandrel into an ironing channel and formed into an ironed workpiece. Finally, a stretch-forming mandrel is moved out of a guide recess of the ironing mandrel and forms the neck section in a stretch-drawing phase, in conjunction with a forming depression of a domer.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . Device ( 10 ) for manufacturing a can body ( 11 ) including a neck section ( 13 ) in one working stroke, the device comprises:
a drawing ring ( 26 ) drivable by a drawing ring drive unit ( 25 ) for deep-drawing of a cup ( 70 ) from a plate-like or disk-like blank ( 32 ), a punch ( 56 ) drivable by punch drive unit ( 55 ) and including an ironing mandrel ( 59 ) for forming the cup ( 70 ) into an ironed workpiece ( 73 ) with a bottom and a cylindrical wall by ironing in an ironing channel ( 38 ), and including a stretch forming mandrel ( 58 ) movable relative to the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) for stretch-forming of a bottom section ( 74 ) of the ironed workpiece ( 73 ).
2 . Device according to claim 1 , wherein the drawing ring ( 26 ) is arranged coaxially to the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ) and to the ironing mandrel ( 59 ).
3 . Device according to claim 1 , wherein the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) has a hollow-cylindrical form and coaxially encloses the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ).
4 . Device according to claim 1 , wherein the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) is movably mounted relative to the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ) and contacts the outer surface of the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ).
5 . Device according to claim 1 , wherein the drawing ring drive unit ( 25 ) is configured to be operated for control or regulation of the position or movement of the drawing ring ( 26 ) in a movement mode and for control or regulation of the force exerted by the drawing ring ( 26 ) in a force mode.
6 . Device according to claim 1 , further including a blocking device ( 63 ) having a blocking position during the working stroke of the punch ( 56 ) for preventing any movement of the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) relative to the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ).
7 . Device according to claim 6 , wherein the blocking device ( 63 ) having a release position for permitting movement of the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) relative to the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ) during the working stroke of the punch ( 56 ).
8 . Device according to claim 7 , further including a domer ( 45 ) having a forming depression ( 48 ) for interacting with the stretch forming mandrel ( 58 ) and/or the ironing mandrel ( 59 ).
9 . Device according to claim 8 , wherein the punch drive unit ( 55 ) is configured to move the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ) into the forming depression ( 48 ) for stretch-forming of the central bottom section ( 74 ) of the ironed workpiece ( 73 ) when the blocking device ( 63 ) is in its release position.
10 . Device according to claim 9 , wherein the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) acts as a hold-down during stretch-forming of the central bottom section ( 74 ) of the ironed workpiece ( 73 ) by the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ).
11 . Device according to claim 6 , wherein the punch ( 56 ) further includes a carrier part ( 57 ) operatively arranged between the punch drive unit ( 55 ) and the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ), the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) is braced via a force setting means ( 61 ) on the carrier part ( 57 ) of the punch ( 56 ).
12 . Device according to claim 11 , wherein the force setting means ( 61 ) includes a spring array ( 62 ).
13 . Device according to claim 12 , wherein the blocking device ( 63 ) includes at least one slide ( 64 ) movably arranged between the carrier part ( 57 ) and the ironing mandrel ( 59 ).
14 . Device according to claim 13 , wherein the at least one slide ( 64 ) is radially movable relative to the longitudinal (L) axis on the carrier part ( 57 ).
15 . Device according to claim 8 , wherein the forming depression ( 48 ) of the domer ( 45 ) has a first depression area ( 49 ) and a second depression area ( 50 ), the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) has a bottom ( 59 a ) with a shape matched to the shape of the first depression area ( 49 ).
16 . Device according to claim 15 , wherein the second depression area ( 50 ) forms a cylindrical cavity having a bottom ( 75 ).
17 . Method for manufacturing a can body ( 11 ) with a neck section ( 13 ) in one working stroke, with the following steps:
deep-drawing of a cup ( 70 ) from a plate-like blank ( 32 ) with a drawing ring ( 26 ), forming of the cup ( 70 ) into an ironed workpiece ( 73 ) with a bottom and a cylindrical wall by ironing in an ironing channel ( 38 ) with an ironing mandrel ( 59 ), stretch-forming of a bottom section ( 74 ) of the ironed workpiece ( 73 ) with a stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ) movable relative to the ironing mandrel ( 59 ).
18 . Method according to claim 17 , wherein the movement of the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) relative to the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ) during forming of the cup ( 70 ) into the ironed workpiece ( 73 ) is prevented.
19 . Method according to claim 17 , wherein the ironing mandrel ( 59 ) presses the ironed workpiece ( 73 ) against the contact face of a domer ( 45 ) during stretch-forming of the bottom section ( 74 ) of the ironed workpiece ( 73 ).
20 . Method according to claim 19 , wherein the stretch-forming mandrel ( 58 ) presses the bottom section ( 74 ) of the ironed workpiece ( 73 ) into a formingdepression ( 48 ) of the domer ( 45 ) during stretch-forming.Cited by (0)
