Abstract
An electronic transaction card communicates with an add-on slot of an intelligent electronic device. The add-on slot may be a memory card slot. The intelligent electronic device may be a mobile phone or other device with or without network connectivity. The electronic transaction card may have magnetic field producing circuitry compatible with magnetic card readers, smartcard circuitry, other point-of-sale interfaces, or any combination thereof.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method comprising:
receiving, at a mobile device, a communication over a network; and in response to the communication, performing a transaction using smartcard circuitry on an electronic transaction card coupled to the mobile device.
2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the mobile device communicating with the electronic transaction card over a contactless interface.
3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the mobile device communicating with the electronic transaction card over a memory card interface.
4 . The method of claim 1 further comprising reporting the transaction over the network.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein performing a transaction comprises performing a credit card transaction.
6 . The method of claim 1 wherein performing a transaction comprises performing a debit card transaction.
7 . The method of claim 1 wherein performing a transaction comprises performing a stored value card transaction.
8 . A method comprising:
performing a transaction using smartcard circuitry on an electronic transaction card coupled to a mobile device with network connectivity; and reporting the transaction over a network using the network connectivity of the mobile device.
9 . The method of claim 8 wherein reporting the transaction over a network comprises the electronic transaction card communicating with the mobile device over a contactless interface.
10 . The method of claim 8 wherein reporting the transaction over a network comprises the electronic transaction card communicating with the mobile device over a memory card interface.
11 . The method of claim 8 wherein performing a transaction comprises performing a transaction over the network.
12 . The method of claim 8 wherein performing a transaction comprises performing a transaction at a point-of-sale.
13 . The method of claim 8 wherein the mobile device comprises a mobile phone.
14 . A method comprising:
receiving, at a mobile device, a communication over a network; in response to the communications, programming an electronic transaction card with smartcard circuitry to perform transactions, wherein the electronic transaction card is coupled to the mobile device.
15 . The method of claim 14 wherein programming an electronic transaction card comprises communicating with the electronic transaction card over a contactless interface.
16 . The method of claim 14 wherein programming an electronic transaction card comprises communicating with the electronic transaction card over a memory card interface.
17 . The method of claim 14 further comprising performing a transaction.
18 . The method of claim 17 wherein performing a transaction comprises performing a transaction over the network.
19 . The method of claim 17 wherein performing a transaction comprises performing a transaction at a point-of-sale.
20 . The method of claim 17 further comprising reporting the transaction over the network.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
