Use of cyclodextrin for treatment and prevention of bronchial inflammatory diseases

Abstract

The invention provides the use of a cyclodextrin compound for the manufacturing of a medicament for the treatment or prevention of bronchial inflammatory diseases, particularly for asthma.

         11 . A method for the treatment of COPD (Chronic obstruction pulmonary disease) in a host mammal in need of such treatment, consisting essentially of the step of administering an effective amount of cyclodextrin compound to the mammal, wherein the cyclodextrin compound is selected from the group consisting of b-cyclodextrin, hydroxypropyl-bcyclodextrin, sulfolbutylether-bcyclodextrin, random methylated-bcyclodextrin, dimethyl-bcyclodextrin, trimethyl-bcyclodextrin, hydroxypropyl b-cyclodextrin, hydroxybutyl bcyclodextrin, glucosyl-bcyclodextrin, maltosyl-bcyclodextrin, 2-O-methyl-bcyclodextrin or a combination thereof and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. 
     
     
         12 . The method for the treatment of COPD according to  claim 11  wherein the cyclodextrin compound is hydroxypropyle-beta-cyclodextrine and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts. 
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 11  wherein the mode of administration is inhalation.
