Abstract

The present invention is directed to a telescoping wire cable tray system. The wire cable tray system includes an outer wire cable tray and an inner wire cable tray positioned within the outer wire cable tray. The inner wire cable tray slides or telescopes with respect to the outer wire cable tray enabling the length of the wire cable trays to be adjusted during installation of the wire cable tray system. The wire cable tray system may include trapeze support bars, clamps, side walls or downspout fittings.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A side wall attached to a cable tray having a plurality of longitudinal wires and a plurality of transverse wires, the side wall comprising:
an upper portion; a lower portion with two ends; and a first loop portion connecting the upper portion to the lower portion, wherein the first loop portion loops around an upper longitudinal wire of the cable tray.

2 . The side wall of claim 1 , wherein the upper portion extends above the cable tray.

3 . The side wall of claim 1 , wherein the lower portion further comprising a second loop portion.

4 . The side wall of claim 3 , wherein the second loop portion loops around a lower longitudinal wire of the cable tray.

5 . The side wall of claim 1 , wherein the ends of the lower portion extend under a lower longitudinal wire of the cable tray.

6 . The side wall of claim 1 , wherein the side wall is formed from a single piece of wire.

7 . The side wall of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of side walls installed on the cable tray create a vertical wall along each side of the cable tray for maintaining cables routed on the cable tray.

         8 . A cable tray system comprising:
a plurality of cable trays, wherein each cable tray includes a plurality of transverse wires and a plurality of longitudinal wires; and at least one side wall attached to one of the plurality of cable trays, wherein the at least one side wall comprising an upper portion, a lower portion with two ends, and a first loop portion connecting the upper portion to the lower portion.

9 . The cable tray system of claim 8 , wherein the first loop portion of the at least one side wall loops around an upper longitudinal wire of the cable tray.

10 . The cable tray system of claim 8 , wherein the upper portion of the at least one side wall extends above the cable tray.

11 . The cable tray system of claim 8 , wherein the lower portion of the at least one side wall further comprising a second loop portion.

12 . The cable tray system of claim 11 , wherein the second loop portion loops around a lower longitudinal wire of the cable tray.

13 . The cable tray system of claim 8 , wherein the ends of the lower portion of the at least one side wall extend under a lower longitudinal wire of the cable tray.

14 . The cable tray system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one side wall is formed from a single piece of wire.

15 . The cable tray system of claim 8 , wherein a plurality of side walls installed on the cable trays create a vertical wall along each side of the cable trays for maintaining cables routed on the cable trays.
