Claims

Abstract

A support apparatus includes a first substantially horizontal member positioned adjacent to first and second elongated substantially vertical member members. The first substantially horizontal member has a channel formed in its rear side. The channel is sized and configured to receive wiring for display devices. The first substantially horizontal member is supported or attached to first and second collars positioned on the first and second elongated substantially vertical members such that movement of the first and second collars adjusts a vertical position of the first substantially horizontal member. One or more display devices, such as LCD screens or computer monitors, may be positioned on the first substantially horizontal member. Preferably, each display device positioned on the first substantially horizontal member is connected to the first substantially horizontal member via a connector that utilizes a releasable attachment mechanism that permits an easy removal or connection to the first substantially horizontal member.

         16 . A quick release attachment mechanism sized and configured to attach a display device to a support arm or elongated member of a display device holding device comprising:
 a display device mounting portion comprising a mounting plate, the mounting plate having an outer peripheral portion that is rotatable about an inner portion;   a member attachment portion sized and configured to attach to a support arm or elongated member of a display device holding device, the member attachment portion having a slot; and   a vertical adjustment mechanism, the vertical adjustment mechanism having a connector that is moveable within the slot, the connector having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, the first side of the connector attached to the display device mounting portion and the second side of the connector being positioned through the slot and being moveably attached to the member attachment portion.   
     
     
         17 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 16  wherein the connector is moveable within the slot without the use of a mechanical tool. 
     
     
         18 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 16  further comprising a pin and wherein the connector has a hole and the display device mounting portion has a body that has an opening, the pin passing through the hole and the opening to moveably attach the connector to the display device mounting portion. 
     
     
         19 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 18  wherein the connector is moveable within the slot to a plurality of different positions defined by one of teeth, projections, structure adjacent to the slot, and steps defined by or attached to the member attachment portion. 
     
     
         20 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 19  wherein the one of the teeth, projections, structure adjacent to the slot, and steps are attached to the member attachment portion. 
     
     
         21 . A quick release attachment mechanism comprising:
 a monitor mounting portion attached to a horizontal member mounting portion, the monitor mounting portion having a height adjustment mechanism sized and configured such that a display device is vertically adjustable via the height adjustment mechanism;   the horizontal member mounting portion having an upper portion sized to engage an upper portion of a first substantially horizontal member of a support apparatus and a moveable member moveable from a first position to a second position, the moveable member being biased to the first position, the moveable member being sized and configured to engage a bottom rear portion of the first substantially horizontal member when in the first position to attach the at least one quick release attachment mechanism to the first substantially horizontal member and being configured to permit the quick release attachment mechanism to be removed from the first substantially horizontal member when in the second position, the movement of the moveable member being actuated by a user without using a mechanical tool.   
     
     
         22 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 21  wherein the height adjustment mechanism is comprised of a connector that passes through a slot formed in the horizontal member mounting portion, the slot defining a path of travel of the connector such that the connector is moveable within the slot to a plurality of different positions. 
     
     
         23 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 21  wherein the monitor mounting portion is moveably attached to the horizontal member mounting portion. 
     
     
         24 . A quick release attachment mechanism comprising:
 a monitor mounting portion;   a horizontal member mounting portion, the horizontal member mounting portion having an upper portion sized to engage an upper portion of a first substantially horizontal member of a support apparatus and a moveable member moveable from a first position to a second position, the moveable member being biased to the first position, the moveable member being sized and configured to engage a bottom rear portion of the first substantially horizontal member when in the first position to attach the at least one quick release attachment mechanism to the first substantially horizontal member and being configured to permit the quick release attachment mechanism to be removed from the first substantially horizontal member when in the second position, the movement of the moveable member being actuatable by a user without using a mechanical tool; and   a height adjustment mechanism sized and configured such that a display device is vertically adjustable via the height adjustment mechanism, the height adjustment mechanism interconnecting the monitor mounting portion to the horizontal member mounting portion.   
     
     
         25 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 24  wherein the monitor mounting portion is configured for attachment to a display device. 
     
     
         26 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 24  wherein the height adjustment mechanism is comprised of a connector that passes through a slot formed in the horizontal member mounting portion, the connector being moveable within the slot to a plurality of different positions. 
     
     
         27 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 26  wherein the height adjustment mechanism further comprises a pin or member and wherein the connector has a hole; and
 wherein the monitor mounting portion has a body that has an opening; and 
 wherein the pin or member of the height adjustment mechanism passes through the hole and the opening to moveably attach the connector to the monitor mounting portion. 
 
     
     
         28 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 27  wherein the connector is comprised of an inner body that is connected to an outer body to form the body of the connector, the hole of the connector being in the outer body of the connector, the inner body of the connector being attached to the outer body of the connector to attach the connector to the horizontal member mounting portion. 
     
     
         29 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 28  wherein the slot has a profile that matingly interlocks with a profile formed in the inner body of the connector. 
     
     
         30 . The quick release attachment mechanism of  claim 29  wherein the profile of the slot define detents or other structure to define different height positions of the connector along the slot in which the inner body of the connector is positionable. 
     
     
         31 . The quick release mechanism of  claim 28  wherein the inner body of the connector is comprised of a screw or rotatable member that is moveable away from the outer body portion to unlock a position of the connector such that the connector is moveable along the slot and is moveable towards the outer body of the connector to hold a position of the connector within the slot.
