Abstract
A method, apparatus and a computer readable record media storing instructions for executing the same method for interfacing among a hybrid type synchronous or asynchronous terminal to a core network in a next generation mobile telecommunications system. The hybrid type synchronous or asynchronous radio network determines the operating type of the core network when the core network has a connection thereto, and sends the determined core network operating type information and information related to the core network to the hybrid type synchronous or asynchronous terminal, thereby allowing the synchronous or asynchronous terminal to smoothly perform a data interfacing operation with the core network.

receiving a message comprising an information element identifying an operating type of the core network, wherein, if the information element in the received message identifies the operating type of the core network as global system for mobile communications-mobile application part (GSM-MAP), the received message further comprises a public land mobile network (PLMN) identity information element identifying a PLMN, and wherein, if the information element in the received message identifies the operating type of the core network as American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-41, the received message further comprises a system identification (SID) information element identifying a system.
2 . A terminal to communicate with a radio network connected to a core network, the terminal comprising:
a receiving unit to receive a message comprising an information element identifying an operating type of the core network, wherein, if the information element in the received message identifies the operating type of the core network as global system for mobile communications-mobile application part (GSM-MAP), the received message further comprises a public land mobile network (PLMN) identity information element identifying a PLMN, and wherein, if the information element in the received message identifies the operating type of the core network as American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-41, the received message further comprises a system identification (SID) information element identifying a system.
3 . A method for communicating with a radio network connected to a core network, the method comprising:
receiving, at a terminal, a message comprising a master information block (MIB) from the radio network, the MIB comprising an information element identifying an operating type of the core network as at least one of global system for mobile communications-mobile application part (GSM-MAP) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-41; and operating the terminal according to the identified operating type of the core network, wherein, if the information element in the MIB identifies the operating type of the core network as GSM-MAP, the MIB further comprises another information element identifying a public land mobile network (PLMN).
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein, if the information element in the MIB identifies the operating type of the core network as ANSI-41, the MIB further comprises a system identification (SID) information element identifying a system.
5 . A terminal to communicate with a radio network connected to a core network, the terminal comprising:
a receiving unit to receive a message comprising a master information block (MIB) from the radio network, the MIB comprising a first information element identifying an operating type of the core network as at least one of global system for mobile communications-mobile application part (GSM-MAP) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-41; and a control unit to control the terminal to operate according to the identified operating type of the core network, wherein, if the first information element in the MIB identifies the operating type of the core network as GSM-MAP, the MIB further comprises a second information element identifying a public land mobile network (PLMN).
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein, if the first information element in the MIB identifies the operating type of the core network as ANSI-41, the MIB further comprises a system identification (SID) information element identifying a system.
7 . A method for communicating with a radio network connected to a core network,
the method comprising: receiving a message comprising a master information block (MIB) from the radio network, the MIB comprising an information element identifying an operating type of the core network as at least one of global system for mobile communications-mobile application part (GSM-MAP) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-41; storing a ‘system identification’ (‘SID’) information element in the MIB if the information element in the MIB identifies the operating type of the core network as ANSI-41.
8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:
