Abstract

Systems and methods for managing tabs, such as tabs used for accessing web pages. Such systems and methods may also provide, arrange and identify the tabs based on tasks to be performed using resources accessed via the web pages. A method for task-based web page tab management may include determining a task period. The method may also include selecting one or more tabs of a plurality of displayed tabs to adjust based on the task period and a task profile. The method may further include adjusting the display of the selected tabs. A system for task-based web page tab management may include a task period determiner and a tab adjuster. The system may also include a task profiler.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 25 . (canceled)

         26 . A computer-implemented method for task-based web page tab management, comprising:
 detecting, by a computing device, one or more trigger actions; recording one or more browser tab activities associated with the computing device; identifying a task period based on at least one of the browser tab activities and trigger actions; and generating a task profile, wherein the generated task profile associates the task period with one or more browser window selections, and wherein the generated task profile is used to adjust the display of one or more tabs in a web browser.

         27 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the one or more trigger actions comprises an application launching on the computing device.

         28 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the one or more trigger actions is based on an automated event performed by the computing device.

         29 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the one or more trigger actions is based on a received notification of an activity.

         30 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the one or more trigger actions is based on a focused tab window.

         31 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the one or more browser tab activities comprises opening a browser window.

         32 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the one or more browser tab activities include changing a focus to a new tab.

         33 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the task period is further based on a detected time of day.

         34 . The method of claim 26 , further comprising:
 receiving a user input including a repetition period for the task period, and wherein the generated task profile includes the repetition period.

         35 . The method of claim 26 , further comprising:
 receiving a user input including a name for the task profile, and wherein the generated task profile includes the name for the task profile.

         36 . A system for task-based web page tab management, comprising:
 a task profiler configured to:
 detect one or more trigger actions on a computing device;
 record one or more browser activities associated with the computing device;
 identify a task period based on at least one of the browser tab activities and trigger actions; and
 generate a task profile, wherein the generated task profile associates the task period with one or more browser window selections, and wherein the generated task profile is used to adjust the display of one or more tabs in a web browser.

         37 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the one or more trigger actions comprises an application launching on the computing device.

         38 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the one or more trigger actions is based on an automated event performed by the computing device.

         39 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the one or more trigger actions is based on a received notification of an activity.

         40 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the one or more trigger actions is based on a focused tab window.

         41 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the one or more browser tab activities comprises opening a browser window.

         42 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the one or more browser tab activities include changing a focus to a new tab.

         43 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the task period is further based on a detected time of day.

         44 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the task profiler is further configured to:
 receive a user input including a repetition period for the task period, and wherein the generated task profile includes the repetition period.

         45 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the task profiler is further configured to:
 receive a user input including a name for the task profile, and wherein the generated task profile includes the name for the task profile.

         46 . A computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having control logic stored therein that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to manage web page tabs, the control logic comprising:
 a first computer readable program code to cause the processor to detect one or more trigger actions; a second computer readable program code to cause the processor to record one or more browser tab activities associated with a computing device; a third computer readable program code to cause the processor to identify a task period based on at least one of the browser tab activities and trigger actions; and a fourth computer readable program code to cause the processor to generate a task profile, wherein the generated task profile associates the task period with one or more browser window selections, and wherein the generated task profile is used to adjust the display of one or more tabs in a web browser.
