Claims

Abstract

A receiving system and a method of processing data are disclosed herein. The receiving system includes a receiving unit, a system information processor, a decoding unit, and a display unit. The receiving unit receives a broadcast signal including a 3D content and system information associated with the 3D content. The system information processor extracts identification information from the system information. Herein, the identification information may identify that the broadcast signal being received by the receiving unit includes the 3D content. The decoding unit decodes the received 3D content based upon transmission format information of the 3D content. Herein, the transmission format information may be included in the extracted identification information. And, the display unit displays the 3D content decoded by the decoding unit as a 3D image based upon a display method of a display device.

         16 . A transmitting system comprising:
 a generator configured to generate a program which includes a program element for a 3-dimensional (3D) content and signaling information of the program;   an encoder configured to encode the generated program; and   a transmitter configured to transmit a transport stream (TS) carrying the encoded program and the signaling information,   wherein the signaling information includes a first table providing a correspondence between a program number and a packet identifier (PID) of TS packets which carries the program, and a second table mapping between the program number and the program element, and   wherein the second table comprises first information specifying that a type of the program element carried within the TS packets is a video stream, second information specifying an elementary PID of the TS packets which carry the program element, and third information indicating a video format type of the program element.   
     
     
         17 . The transmitting system of  claim 16 , wherein the 3D content comprises a left image data and a right image data, and wherein the second table further includes fourth information indicating whether or not an image data corresponds to the left image. 
     
     
         18 . The transmitting system of  claim 17 , wherein the second table further includes fifth information indicating whether an uppermost pixel of a furthermost left side of image data for the 3D content is the left image data. 
     
     
         19 . The transmitting system of  claim 18 , wherein the second table further includes sixth information indicating whether at least one of the left image data and right image data is inversely scanned and encoded. 
     
     
         20 . The transmitting system of  claim 19 , wherein the second table further includes seventh information indicating whether a quincunx filter is used to perform sampling of the 3D content. 
     
     
         21 . The transmitting system of  claim 17 , wherein the third information is included in a descriptor which is located in a loop of ES_info_length field in the second table. 
     
     
         22 . A method of transmitting data in a transmitting system, the method comprising:
 generating, by a generator, a program which includes a program element for a 3-dimensional (3D) content and signaling information of the program;   encoding, by an encoder, the generated program; and   transmitting, by a transmitter, a transport stream (TS) carrying the encoded program,   wherein the signaling information includes a first table providing a correspondence between a program number and a packet identifier (PID) of TS packets, which carries the program, in the broadcast signal, and a second table mapping between the program number and the program element, and   wherein the second table comprises first information specifying that a type of the program element carried within the TS packets is a video stream, second information specifying an elementary PID of the TS packets which carry the program element, and third information indicating a video format type of the program element.   
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the 3D content comprises a left image data and a right image data, and wherein the second table further includes fourth information indicating whether or not the image data corresponds to the left-view image. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the second table further includes fifth information indicating whether an uppermost pixel of a furthermost left side of image data for the 3D content is the left-view image data. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 24 , wherein the second table further includes sixth information indicating whether at least one of the left image data and right image data is inversely scanned and encoded. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the second table further includes seventh information indicating whether a quincunx filter is used to perform sampling of the 3D content. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the third information is included in a descriptor which is located in a loop of ES_info_length field in the second table.
