Abstract

The present invention relates to a pump device having a diaphragm pump head with two fluid delivery chambers, each fluid delivery chamber having a corresponding control chamber separated from the fluid delivery chamber by an associated diaphragm, a piston chamber in fluid communication with both fluid delivery chambers, and a double-acting piston assembly provided in the piston chamber and defining a single piston head that simultaneous acts upon both of the corresponding control chambers to drive the associated diaphragms.

         13 . Pump device comprising: a diaphragm pump head having two fluid delivery chambers and two associated diaphragms, which are drivable by a double-acting piston via associated diaphragm control chambers, wherein a refilling valve is connected to each of the diaphragm control chambers, and, using the refilling valves, the diaphragm control chambers is impinged temporarily, during the refilling procedure, which is controlled by the diaphragm position, by a diaphragm control pressure, which is greater than atmospheric pressure. 
     
     
         14 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the double-acting piston is constructed symmetrically. 
     
     
         15 . Pump device comprising: a diaphragm pump head having two fluid delivery chambers and two associated diaphragms, which are drivable by a double-acting piston via associated diaphragm control chambers, wherein the double-acting piston is constructed symmetrically. 
     
     
         16 . Pump device in accordance with  claim 13 , wherein the piston is implemented as double-acting disk piston having diametrically opposite piston rods. 
     
     
         17 . Pump device according to  claim 15 , wherein the piston faces on both sides of the disk piston have identical sizes. 
     
     
         18 . Pump device in accordance with  claim 13 , wherein the double-acting piston comprises a disk piston having a first piston rod and a second piston rod being situated diametrically opposite to the first piston rod.

Pump device in accordance with  claim 13 , wherein the pump device comprises a downstream pump head having two or an integral multiple of two fluid delivery chambers and diaphragms associated therewith, which are hydraulically coupled to the diaphragm head for driving the downstream pump head. 
     
     
         20 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the diaphragm control pressure is less than the system pressure. 
     
     
         21 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the double-acting piston is situated in the diaphragm head. 
     
     
         22 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the diaphragm control pressure approximately corresponds to a fluid pressure at the inlet of a fluid delivery chamber of the downstream pump head. 
     
     
         23 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the diaphragm control pressure may be adapted to the fluid pressure by a control circuit having associated sensors and actuators. 
     
     
         24 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the diaphragm control pressure is generated by a pump, which is coupled to a container for a diaphragm control chamber, each container having one of the refilling valves and being impinged using a static stagnation pressure by the pump. 
     
     
         25 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the diaphragm control pressure is generated by a controllable pump, which feeds a pressure accumulator, which is coupled to a container for a diaphragm control chamber. 
     
     
         26 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein a container is provided in each case for a diaphragm control chamber, and an adjustable throttle device is connected downstream from each container. 
     
     
         27 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , characterised in that the piston is implemented as a double-acting disk piston having diametrically opposite piston rods of equal cross-sectional area. 
     
     
         28 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the diaphragms of the downstream pump head are each freely oscillating metal diaphragms. 
     
     
         29 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the diaphragms of the diaphragm pump head are made of a plastic, in particular PTFE. 
     
     
         30 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the diaphragms of the diaphragm pump head are each implemented as multilayered and are provided with a position controller and fracture signaling. 
     
     
         31 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein a conductivity or viscosity sensor is provided inside diaphragm control chambers of the downstream pump head. 
     
     
         32 . Pump device according to  claim 13 , wherein the hydraulic coupling between the downstream pump head and the pump head occurs using control fluids comprising water or oil.
