Methods, pharmaceutical compositions and articles of manufacture for administering therapeutic cells to the animal central nervous system
Abstract
Methods and compositions for preventing and treating the damaged and/or degenerating CNS experiencing loss or death of CNS cells. Various embodiments of the invention transport a therapeutically effective amount of, inter alia, at least one therapeutic cell to the CNS by intranasal application to the upper-third of the nasal cavity, thereby bypassing the blood-brain barrier. A pharmaceutical composition according to the invention may comprise at least one therapeutic cell, at least one delivery-enhancement agent, at least one antibiotic, at least one regulatory factor and/or at least one immunosuppressive agent, wherein the composition is delivered to the upper-third of the nasal cavity. The therapeutic cells, once delivered to the CNS, migrate preferentially to the area of damage or degeneration or injury.

24 . An intranasally delivered pharmaceutical composition for treating a damaged or degenerating or injured central nervous system of a mammal, comprising:
at least one therapeutic cell; and at least one delivery-enhancement agent to assist the at least one therapeutic cell to cross the blood-brain barrier, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered to the upper third of the nasal cavity of the mammal.
25 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 24 , wherein the at least one delivery-enhancement agent comprises hyaluronidase.
26 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 25 , wherein the at least one delivery-enhancement agent further comprises neuregulin and migration-inducing activity.
27 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 25 , further comprising, at least one antibiotic.
28 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 27 , further comprising at least one immunosuppressive agent.
29 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 24 , further comprising at least one regulatory agent.
30 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 28 , further comprising at east one regulatory agent.Cited by (0)
