Abstract

A method for delivering energy to an electric vehicle includes coupling the electric vehicle to an energy delivery point via a connector, receiving a unique identifier of the electric vehicle via the connector, determining an account associated with the identifier, delivering an amount of energy to the electric vehicle via the connector, and determining a transaction amount based on the amount of energy delivered to the electric vehicle by the energy delivery point.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

         21 . An energy delivery system for use in delivering electrical energy to an electric vehicle, said energy delivery system configured to:
 receive a unique identifier of the electric vehicle from the electric vehicle via a connector; transmit the unique identifier to a server system via a network to determine an account associated with the unique identifier; deliver an amount of energy to the electric vehicle via the connector; receive, from the server system, a transaction amount based on the amount of energy delivered to the electric vehicle by said energy delivery system; compare the amount of energy delivered by said energy delivery system and the amount of energy received at the electric vehicle when the transaction amount has been determined; and perform an action when the amount of energy delivered by said energy delivery system is equal to the amount of energy received at the electric vehicle.

         22 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 21 , wherein configured to receive a unique identifier comprises receiving a unique identifier via a broadband over powerline modem communicatively coupled to the connector.

         23 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 21 , wherein said energy delivery system comprises a meter configured to determine the amount of energy delivered to the electric vehicle.

         24 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 23 , wherein said meter is further configured to transmit the amount of energy delivered by said energy delivery system to the server system.

         25 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 21 , wherein configured to perform an action comprises generating a receipt.

         26 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 21 , wherein configured to receive a unique identifier comprises receiving a unique identifier as a tag that is included in a communication sent from the electric vehicle.

         27 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 21 , wherein said energy delivery system is configured to deliver electrical energy to a plurality of electric vehicles.

         28 . An energy delivery system for use in delivering electrical energy to an electric vehicle, said energy delivery system comprising a delivery system communication module that enables said energy delivery system to communicate with the electric vehicle via a connector and to deliver electrical energy to the electric vehicle via the connector, said energy delivery system configured to:
 deliver an amount of energy to the electric vehicle via the connector; identify a transaction amount based on the amount of energy delivered to the electric vehicle; compare the amount of energy delivered by said energy delivery system and the amount of energy received at the electric vehicle when the transaction amount has been determined; and perform an action when the amount of energy delivered by said energy delivery system is equal to the amount of energy received at the electric vehicle.

         29 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 28 , further comprising a network communication module that is communicatively coupled with a server system via a network.

         30 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 29 , wherein said energy delivery system is further configured to:
 receive a unique identifier of the electric vehicle from the electric vehicle via the connector; transmit the unique identifier to the server system to determine an account associated with the unique identifier.

         31 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 30 , wherein configured to identify a transaction amount comprises receiving, from the server system, a transaction amount based on the amount of energy delivered to the electric vehicle by said energy delivery system.

         32 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 28 , wherein said delivery system communication module comprises a first broadband over powerline (BPL) modem.

         33 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 32 , wherein said delivery system communication module is configured to communicate with a second BPL modem that is associated with the electric vehicle.

         34 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 28 , further comprising a meter configured to determine the amount of energy delivered to the electric vehicle.

         35 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 28 , wherein configured to perform an action comprises generating a receipt.

         36 . An energy delivery system in accordance with claim 28 , wherein said energy delivery system is configured to deliver electrical energy to a plurality of electric vehicles.

         37 . A system for use in delivering electrical energy to an electric vehicle, said system comprising:
 a network communication module that is communicatively coupled with a server system via a network; and a delivery system communication module that enables said system to communicate with the electric vehicle via a connector and to deliver electrical energy to the electric vehicle via the connector, said system configured to:
 receive a unique identifier of the electric vehicle from the electric vehicle via the connector;
 transmit the unique identifier to the server system to determine an account associated with the unique identifier;
 deliver an amount of energy to the electric vehicle via the connector;
 identify a transaction amount based on the amount of energy delivered to the electric vehicle;
 compare the amount of energy delivered by said system and the amount of energy received at the electric vehicle when the transaction amount has been determined; and
 perform an action when the amount of energy delivered by said system is equal to the amount of energy received at the electric vehicle.

         38 . A system in accordance with claim 37 , wherein configured to identify a transaction amount comprises receiving, from the server system, a transaction amount based on the amount of energy delivered to the electric vehicle by said system.
