Method and System for Discontinuous Reception De-Synchronization Detection
Abstract
A method and apparatus for discontinuous reception desynchronization detection between an enhanced Node B and a user equipment, the method having the steps of: waiting for a predefined event to occur; and upon the predefined event occurring, sending a message from one of the enhanced Node B and the user equipment to the other of the enhanced Node B and user equipment, wherein the message contains one of a request for discontinuous reception period information or discontinuous reception period information, the discontinuous reception period information or discontinuous reception period information being utilized to detect desynchronization.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for detecting a discontinuous reception (DRX) de-synchronization between a network and a user equipment (UE), the method comprising the steps of:
sending a request message from the network to the UE, wherein said request message includes a request for a DRX period information of the UE; receiving a response message from the UE to the network, wherein said response message includes the DRX period information of the UE; detecting the DRX de-synchronization between the network and the UE; and recovering from the DRX de-synchronization between the network and the UE.
2 . The method of claim 1 further comprises comparing the DRX period information of the UE received in the response message with a DRX period information of the network.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the recovering comprises sending a continuous communication command from the network to the UE.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the recovering further comprises receiving a reply to the continuous communication command from the UE to the network.
5 . A method for detecting a discontinuous reception (DRX) de-synchronization between a network and a user equipment (UE), the method comprising the steps of:
receiving a request message from the network to the UE, wherein said request message includes a request for DRX de-synchronization detection; detecting the DRX de-synchronization between the network and the UE; sending a response message from the UE to the network, wherein said response message includes a DRX de-synchronization detection flag, if detecting the DRX de-synchronization; and recovering from the DRX de-synchronization between the network and the UE.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein said request message includes a DRX period information of the network.
7 . The method of claim 6 comprises comparing the DRX period information of the network with a DRX period information of the UE.
8 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the recovering comprises receiving a continuous communication command from the network to the UE.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the recovering further comprises sending a reply to the continuous communication command from the UE to the network.
10 . A network adapted to detect a discontinuous reception (DRX) de-synchronization between the network and a user equipment (UE), the network comprising a communications subsystem and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to:
send a request message from the network to the UE, wherein said request message includes a request for a DRX period information of the UE; receive a response message from the UE to the network, wherein said response message includes the DRX period information of the UE; detect the DRX de-synchronization between the network and the UE; and recover from the DRX de-synchronization between the network and the UE.
11 . The network of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to compare the DRX period information of the UE received in the response message with a DRX period information of the network.
12 . The network of claim 10 , wherein the recovering comprises the processor being configured to send a continuous communication command from the network to the UE.
13 . The network of claim 12 , wherein the recovering further comprises the processor being configured to receive a reply to the continuous communication command from the UE to the network.
14 . A user equipment (UE) adapted to detect a discontinuous reception (DRX) de-synchronization between a network and the UE, the UE comprising a communications subsystem and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to:
receive a request message from the network to the UE, wherein said request message includes a request for DRX de-synchronization detection; detect the DRX de-synchronization between the network and the UE; send a response message from the UE to the network if detecting the DRX de-synchronization, wherein said response message includes a DRX de-synchronization detection flag; and recover from the DRX de-synchronization between the network and the UE.
15 . The UE of claim 14 , wherein said request message includes a DRX period information of the network.
16 . The UE of claim 15 comprises the processor being configured to compare the DRX period information of the network with a DRX period information of the UE.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the response from the user equipment to the enhanced Node B containing the desynchronization detected flag is in response to said message, upon detection of desynchronization at the user equipment.
18 . The UE of claim 17 , wherein the recovering further comprises the processor being configured to send a reply to the continuous communication command from the UE to the network.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
