Abstract
The present invention provides very safe lactic acid bacteria and lactic acid bacteria preparations which are effective in prevention and therapy of allergies and/or in lowering of the blood neutral fat level. The present invention also provides pharmaceutical products and food or drink products which contain, as an active ingredient, a composition that contains cultured cells of the lactic acid bacterium Pediococcus acidilactici R037 or a treated product thereof.

A lactic acid bacterium, which is a strain of Pediococcus acidilactici R037 (accession number NITE BP-900) or a variant of the strain R037 having at least one of an antiallergic function, a neutral fat-lowering function, and an anti-autoimmune disease function.
2 . A composition which comprises cultured cells of the lactic acid bacterium according to claim 1 or a treated product thereof.
3 . An antiallergic agent comprising the composition according to claim 2 .
4 . A neutral fat-lowering agent comprising the composition according to claim 2 .
5 . An anti-autoimmune disease agent comprising the composition according to claim 2 .
6 . The agent according to claim 3 , which is a pharmaceutical product or an animal drug.
7 . A food or drink product comprising the composition according to claim 2 .
8 . The food or drink product according to claim 7 , which has at least one of an antiallergic function, a blood neutral fat-lowering function, and an anti-autoimmune disease function.
9 . The food or drink product according to claim 7 , which is a functional food or a dietary supplement.
10 . A method for treating at least one of an allergic disease, hypertriglyceridemia, and an autoimmune disease,
the method comprising administering the composition according to claim 2 to a subject.
11 . The agent according claim 4 which is a pharmaceutical product or an animal drug.
12 . The agent according claim 5 which is a pharmaceutical product or an animal drug.
