Abstract

One embodiment of a system for packaging a product bundle comprises a first conveyor packaging line that applies a first wrap of packaging film in one direction around the product bundle, wherein the first wrap may be preprinted with a plurality of graphics that after wrapping of the first wrap may be each displayed on at least four sides of the product bundle. The system further comprises a second conveyor packaging line that applies a second wrap of packaging film around the product in a second direction, wherein the second wrap may be preprinted with the plurality of graphics that after wrapping of the second wrap may be each displayed on at least two additional sides of the product bundle.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
Therefore, at least the following is claimed:

1 . A method for packaging a product bundle, comprising:
applying, via at least one conveyor packaging line, a first wrap of packaging film in one direction around the product bundle, wherein the first wrap may be preprinted with a plurality of graphics that after wrapping of the first wrap are each displayed on at least four sides of the product bundle; and applying, via the at least one conveyor packaging line, a second wrap of packaging film around the product bundle in a second direction, wherein the second wrap may be preprinted with the plurality of graphics that after wrapping of the second wrap may be each displayed on at least two additional sides of the product bundle.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of graphics comprise barcodes.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first wrap of packaging film comes in full contact with an outer circumference of the product bundle before being shrunk to tighten around the product bundle.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a width of the packaging film in the first wrap corresponds to a width of the sides of the product bundle as the product bundle is positioned on its side.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein a width of the packaging film in the second wrap exceeds widths of top and bottom end faces of the product bundle as the product bundle is positioned on its side.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the packaging film in the second wrap forms a bullseye over a respective side of the product bundle and is positioned such that a graphic on the first wrap underneath the bullseye is visible through the bullseye.

7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the packaging film in the second wrap forms a bullseye over a respective side of the product bundle and is positioned such that a graphic on the first wrap underneath the second wrap is positioned outside the bullseye

8 . The method of claim 4 , wherein a width of the packaging film in the second wrap corresponds to widths of top and bottom end faces of the product bundle as the product bundle is positioned on its side.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the packaging film comprises a preformed tube of film.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the packaging film comprises a roll of film whose ends are sealed after wrapping around the product bundle.

11 . A system for packaging a product bundle, comprising:
a first conveyor packaging line that applies a first wrap of packaging film in one direction around the product bundle, wherein the first wrap may be preprinted with a plurality of graphics that after wrapping of the first wrap may be each displayed on at least four sides of the product bundle; and a second conveyor packaging line that applies a second wrap of packaging film around the product bundle in a second direction, wherein the second wrap may be preprinted with the plurality of graphics that after wrapping of the second wrap may each be displayed on at least two additional sides of the product bundle.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of graphics comprise barcodes.

13 . The system of claim 11 , the first conveyor packaging line comprising a shrink tunnel, wherein he first wrap of packaging film comes in full contact with an outer circumference of the product bundle in the first conveyor packaging line before being shrunk to tighten around the product bundle by the shrink tunnel in the first conveyor packaging line.

14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein a width of the packaging film in the first wrap corresponds to a width of the sides of the product bundle as the product bundle is positioned on its side.

15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein a width of the packaging film in the second wrap exceeds widths of top and bottom end faces of the product bundle as the product bundle is positioned on its side.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the packaging film in the second wrap forms a bullseye over a respective side of the product bundle and is positioned such that a graphic on the first wrap underneath the bullseye is visible through the bullseye.

17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the packaging film in the second wrap forms a bullseye over a respective side of the product bundle and is positioned such that a graphic on the first wrap underneath the second wrap is positioned outside the bullseye.

18 . The system of claim 14 , wherein a width of the packaging film in the second wrap corresponds to widths of top and bottom end faces of the product bundle as the product bundle is positioned on its side.

19 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the packaging film comprises a preformed tube of film.

20 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the packaging film comprises a roll of film whose ends are sealed after wrapping around the product bundle.
