Computer devices and methods of preventing damage to a display

Abstract

Computer devices are described herein. The computer devices include a keyboard body including a keyboard and a display body including a display. The computer devices are foldable to a closed position. A display protector is attached to the keyboard body so as to protect the display by contact therewith. Further, methods of preventing damage to a display are also described herein.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A computer device, comprising:
 a keyboard body including a keyboard deck and a keyboard;   a display body including a display, the display body being coupled to the keyboard body such that the computer device is foldable to a closed position; and   a display protector attached to the keyboard body and disposed at the keyboard deck to protect the display by contact therewith,   the display protector including portions in the neighborhood of each side of the keyboard.   
     
     
         2 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the display protector extends along at least 50% of an external perimeter of the keyboard. 
     
     
         3 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the display protector continuously surrounds the keyboard. 
     
     
         4 . The computer device of  claim 3 , wherein the display protector is formed as a single piece. 
     
     
         5 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the display protector protrudes above the keyboard deck. 
     
     
         6 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the display protector is mounted in a channel. 
     
     
         7 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the display protector is resilient. 
     
     
         8 . The computer device of  claim 7 , wherein the display protector is composed of an elastomeric material. 
     
     
         9 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the display protector contacts the display when the computer device is closed. 
     
     
         10 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the display protector is provided adjacent to the keyboard. 
     
     
         11 . The computer device of  claim 1 , further comprising a trackpad, at least a portion of the display protector being provided between the keyboard and the trackpad. 
     
     
         12 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the computer device is a laptop. 
     
     
         13 . A computer device, comprising:
 a keyboard body including a keyboard;   a display body including a display, the display body being rotatably coupled to the keyboard body such that the computer device is foldable to a closed portion;   a resilient ring surrounding the keyboard and attached to the keyboard body so as to protect the display by contact therewith.   
     
     
         14 . The computer device of  claim 13 , wherein the display protector contacts the display when the computer device is in a closed position. 
     
     
         15 . The computer device of  claim 13 , wherein the display protector is provided adjacent to the keyboard. 
     
     
         16 . The computer device of  claim 13 , wherein the display protector is mounted so as to protrude above the keyboard deck. 
     
     
         17 . The computer device of  claim 1 , wherein the computer device is a laptop. 
     
     
         18 . A method of preventing damage to a display of a computer device, the method comprising supporting a display with a display protector when the computer device is folded to a closed position, wherein
 the computer device includes a display body, including the display, coupled to a keyboard body, including a keyboard, such that the computer device is foldable to the closed position, and   the display protector is attached to the keyboard body such that portions of the display protector are disposed in the neighborhood of each side of the keyboard.   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the display protector is a resilient ring surrounding the keyboard. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the computer device is a laptop.
