Abstract
The present invention relates to diagnostic and therapeutic methods in the field of malignant disorders. More particularly, the invention provides methods of determining the invasivity of malignant disorders and methods for reducing the invasivity of malignant disorders including the prevention or treatment of cancer cell invasion.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising as an active agent an inhibitor of the AXL gene, AXL ligand gene, AXL protein and/or AXL protein ligand together with pharmacologically active diluents, carriers and/or adjuvants.
2 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the inhibitor is an antibody directed against the AXL protein.
3 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the inhibitor is an antisense nucleic acid, a ribozyme or an RNA interference molecule directed against the AXL gene or a transcript thereof.
4 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the inhibitor is a dominant-negative mutant of the AXL gene.
5 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the inhibitor is a low molecular weight compound.
6 . The composition of claim 1 for reducing the invasivity of a malignant disorder.
7 . The composition of claim 1 for reducing the metastasis formation in a malignant disorder.
8 . The composition of claim 6 , wherein the malignant disorder is glioblastoma.
9 . The composition of claim 1 comprising at least one further active agent.
10 . The composition of claim 9 , wherein the further active agent is a cytotoxic or cytostatic agent.
11 . An inhibitor of the AXL gene, AXL ligand gene, AXL protein and/or AXL protein ligand.
12 . The inhibitor of claim 11 which is an antibody directed against the AXL protein.
