Abstract
Devices, systems and methods of membership verification during handover to a target cell are presented. The target cell triggers membership verification (MV) process during handover, accepting user equipment (UE) as a non-member and upgrading it to a full member, e.g., if the membership verification process is successful.

1 . A method of membership verification in a wireless system comprising:
triggering a membership verification (MV) process for handover, wherein the membership verification process comprises:
accepting a user equipment (UE) as a non-member;
receiving a membership verification status; and
accepting the UE as a member according to the membership verification status.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the handover is done from a cell to a target cell.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the cell and the target cell comprise a Home evolve Node-B (HeNB).
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the handover is done by using an X2 handover protocol.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the membership verification process comprises:
sending a message to request the membership verification status.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the message includes a path switch request message.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving a membership verification status comprises:
receiving a path switch request acknowledge message, which includes a closed subscriber group (CSG) membership status.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the CSG membership status comprises a non-member status and a member status.
9 . A method of membership verification in a wireless system comprising:
receiving a membership verification status request message; determining a user equipment (UE) membership status according to the membership verification status request message; and sending to a target cell a membership verification status request acknowledge message which includes the membership verification status of the UE.
10 . The method of claim 9 comprising:
accepting a UE as a non-member before receiving the membership verification status request message.
11 . The method of claim 9 comprising:
performing a handover of a UE to a target cell by using the membership verification status request message and the membership verification status request acknowledge message.
12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the membership verification status request message includes a path switch request message.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the path switch request acknowledge message comprises a closed subscriber group (CSG) membership status.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the CSG status provides either a non-member status or a member status.
15 . The method of claim 9 comprising:
performing a membership verification (MV) process for handover, wherein the membership verification result is transferred using a path switch request acknowledge message.
16 . A wireless communication device comprising:
a handover module to trigger a membership verification (MV) process for handover from a cell to a target cell, wherein the wireless communication device is to enable a user equipment to be accepted as a non-member, to receive a membership verification status, and to be accepted as a member based on to the membership verification status.
17 . The wireless communication device of claim 16 , wherein the cell and the target cell comprise a Home evolve Node-B (HeNB).
18 . The wireless communication device of claim 16 , wherein the membership verification (MV) process comprises an X2 handover protocol.
19 . The wireless communication device of claim 16 , wherein the membership verification process comprises:
sending a message to request the membership verification status.
20 . The wireless communication device of claim 19 , wherein the message includes a path switch request message.
21 . The wireless communication device of claim 16 , wherein the membership verification status comprises:
a path switch request acknowledge message, which includes a closed subscriber group (CSG) membership status.
22 . The wireless communication device of claim 21 , wherein the CSG status provides either a non-member or a member.

The wireless communication device of claim 16 , wherein the handover module is able to trigger the membership verification (MV) process after handover from the cell to the target cell, wherein the path switch request acknowledge message is used for membership verification after completion of the handover.
24 . A wireless communication system comprising:
a handover module to trigger a membership verification (MV) process of handover from a cell to a target cell, wherein the handover module is to enable a wireless communication device to be accepted as a non-member, to receive a membership verification status, and to be accepted as a member based on to the membership verification status; and a transceiver operably coupled to at least two dipole antennas to transmit Single Carrier Frequency Domain Multiple Access (SC_FDMA) modulated radio frequency (RF) signals over the uplink and to receive Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modulated RF signals over the downlink.
25 . The wireless communication system of claim 24 , wherein the cell and the target cell comprise a Home evolve Node-B (HeNB).
26 . The wireless communication system of claim 24 , wherein the membership verification (MV) process comprises an X2 handover protocol.
27 . The wireless communication system of claim 24 , wherein the transceiver is able to send a message to request the membership verification status over the uplink.
28 . The wireless communication system of claim 27 , wherein the message includes a path switch request message.
29 . The wireless communication system of claim 24 , wherein the membership verification status comprises:
a path switch request acknowledge message, which includes a closed subscriber group (CSG) membership status.
30 . The wireless communication system of claim 29 , wherein the CSG status provides either a non-member or a member status.
31 . The wireless communication system of claim 29 , wherein the path switch request acknowledge message is used for membership verification after completion of the handover.
32 . A cellular system comprising:
a Mobility Management Entity (MME) to receive a membership verification status request message after an acceptance of a user equipment (UE) as a non-member, to determine the UE membership status according to the membership verification status request and to send a membership verification status request acknowledge message, wherein the membership verification status request acknowledge message includes the membership verification status of the UE.
33 . The cellular system of claim 32 further comprising a Home evolve Node-B (HeNB).
34 . The cellular system of claim 32 , wherein the MME is able to perform a handover of a UE to a target cell by using the membership verification status request message and the membership verification status request acknowledge message.
35 . The cellular system of claim 32 , wherein the membership verification status request message includes a path switch request message.
36 . The cellular system of claim 35 , wherein the path switch request acknowledge message comprises a closed subscriber group (CSG) membership status.
37 . The cellular system of claim 36 , wherein the CSG status provides a non-member or a member status.
38 . An article comprising: a non-transitory computer readable medium containing program instructions of handover communications to a target cell, the instructions, when executed, result in:
triggering a membership verification (MV) process during handover wherein the membership verification process comprises:
accepting a user equipment (UE) as a non-member;
receiving a membership verification status; and
accepting the UE as a member according to the membership verification status.
39 . The article of claim 38 , wherein the handover is done by using an X2 handover protocol.
40 . The article of claim 38 , wherein the membership verification process comprises:
sending a message to request the membership verification status.
41 . The article of claim 40 , wherein the message includes a path switch request message.
42 . The article of claim 38 , wherein receiving a membership verification status comprises:
receiving a path switch request acknowledge message, which includes a closed subscriber group (CSG) membership status.
43 . The article of claim 42 , wherein the CSG status provides a non-member or a member status.
44 . A wireless communication system comprising:
a handover module to perform a membership verification (MV) process after handover from a cell to a target cell according to a membership status received by a path switch request acknowledge message; and a transceiver operably coupled to at least two dipole antennas to transmit Single Carrier Frequency Domain Multiple Access (SC_FDMA) modulated radio frequency (RF) signals over the uplink and to receive Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modulated RF signals over the downlink.
45 . The wireless communication system of claim 44 , wherein the path switch request acknowledge message comprises:
a closed subscriber group (CSG) membership status.
46 . The wireless communication system of claim 45 , wherein the CSG status provides either a non-member or a member status.
47 . The wireless communication system of claim 44 , wherein the cell and the target cell comprise a Home evolve Node-B (HeNB).
48 . The wireless communication system of claim 44 , wherein the membership verification (MV) process comprises an X2 handover protocol.
49 . A wireless communication device comprising:
a handover module to perform a membership verification (MV) process after handover from a cell to a target cell according to a membership status received by a path switch request acknowledge message; and a transceiver operably coupled to at least two dipole antennas to transmit Single Carrier Frequency Domain Multiple Access (SC_FDMA) modulated radio frequency (RF) signals over the uplink and to receive Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modulated RF signals over the downlink.
50 . The wireless communication device of claim 49 , wherein the path switch request acknowledge message comprises:
a closed subscriber group (CSG) membership status.
51 . The wireless communication device of claim 50 , wherein the CSG status provides either a non-member or a member status.
