Abstract
A patient-support apparatus includes receivers for supporting a patient-support deck. The patient-support deck is configured to engage the receivers to support the deck in a cantilevered configuration. The patient-support deck may be secured to the patient-support apparatus by a locking mechanism.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A patient support apparatus comprising
a lower frame, an upper frame supported on the lower frame and movable vertically relative to the lower frame, and a deck section supported from the upper frame, the deck section including (i) a first portion, (ii) a second portion supported on the upper frame and pivotably coupled to the first portion, (iii) a support secured to the first portion and movable relative to the first portion, the support moving between a first position where the support engages the second portion to support the first portion in a use position and a second position where the support permits the first portion to be pivoted to a collapsed position, and (iv) a release mechanism having a first state which permits movement of the support relative to the first portion and a second state which prevents movement of the support relative to the first portion.
2 . The patient support apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the release mechanism comprises a cable assembly.
3 . The patient support apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the deck section is pivotable relative to the upper frame.
4 . The patient support apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the deck section further includes a slide supported from the second portion and engageable with the upper frame, the slide moveable between a first position that prevents pivoting of the second portion relative to the upper frame and a second position that permits movement of the second portion relative to the upper frame.
5 . The patient support apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the release mechanism is operable to alter the position of both the support and the slide.
6 . The patient support apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the first portion of the deck section includes a first hinge member and the second portion of the deck section includes a second hinge member, the first and second hinge members cooperating to define a pivot about which the first portion pivots relative to the second portion.
7 . The patient support apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the slide is spring loaded and biased to the first position.
8 . The patient support apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the release mechanism comprises a cable assembly.
9 . The patient support apparatus of claim 8 , wherein a single cable actuates both the support and the slide.
10 . A patient support apparatus comprising,
a lower frame, an upper frame moveable relative to the lower frame, a deck section comprising a first portion and a second portion, the second portion of the deck section supported from the upper frame and extending from the upper frame in cantilever, and the first portion pivotable relative to the second portion to collapse the deck section.
11 . The patient support apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the deck section is pivotable relative to the upper frame.
12 . The patient support apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the deck section includes a hinge interconnecting the first portion and the second portion.
13 . The patient support apparatus of claim 12 , further comprising a support coupled to the first portion and removably engageable with the second portion, the support preventing pivoting of the first portion relative to the second portion when the support is engaged with the second portion.
14 . The patient support apparatus of claim 13 , wherein each of the first and second portions of the deck section have upper surfaces and wherein the first portion is pivotable to engage the upper surface of the first portion with the upper surface of the second portion.
15 . A deck section for a patient support apparatus comprising
a first portion, a second portion configured to be secured to a frame of a patient support apparatus, a support coupled to the first portion and moveable between a first position engaging the second portion and second portion disengaged from the second portion, the support preventing movement of the first portion relative to the second portion when the support is in the first position, a slide coupled to the first portion and moveable between a first position wherein the slide prevents movement of the second portion relative to the frame of the patient support apparatus and a second position permitting movement of the second portion relative to the frame, and a release mechanism including a cable that is movable to move the support from the first position and the slide from the first position such that the deck section collapses and pivots relative to the patient support apparatus.
16 . The deck section of claim 15 , wherein the slide is spring-loaded and biased to the first position.
17 . The deck section of claim 16 , wherein the support is spring-loaded and biased to the first position.
18 . The deck section of claim 15 , wherein the support is spring-loaded and biased to the first position.
19 . The deck section of claim 18 , wherein each of the first and second portions of the deck section have upper surfaces and wherein the first portion is pivotable to engage the upper surface of the first portion with the upper surface of the second portion.
20 . The deck section of claim 15 , wherein each of the first and second portions of the deck section have upper surfaces and wherein the first portion is pivotable to engage the upper surface of the first portion with the upper surface of the second portion.Cited by (0)
