Abstract

A sensor system is used for measuring, transmitting, processing and displaying a brain parameter. The sensor system has an implantable brain parameter sensor with a wireless transmission unit for measuring the brain parameter. A receiving unit with an antenna is in wireless signal connection with the latter. A data read module is in signal connection with the antenna and a data processing and display device is in turn in signal connection with the data read module. The sensor system also has a head cap or a head hood, on which the receiving unit is fixed to predetermine a relative position relative to the transmitting unit. A sensor system is the result, the use of which remains comfortable for the patient even over a relatively long measuring period. A method for transmission of measurement data measured with the brain parameter sensor to the external data read module is also provided.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for transmission of measurement data measured with a brain parameter sensor ( 24 ) to an external data read module ( 18 ) comprising the following steps:
sending a HF signal generated by a high frequency source of the data read module ( 18 ), receiving said HF signal with a transmission unit ( 4 ) of the brain parameter sensor, rectifying said HF signal, charging a capacitor ( 6 ) with the rectified HF signal for a temporary energy supply of the transmission unit ( 4 ), deactivating the HF signal after said charging, recording a brain parameter measurement signal, wherein the brain parameter sensor is supplied with energy by means of the capacitor ( 6 ) during recording the brain parameter measurement signal, activating the HF signal, and sending the brain parameter measurement signal with the HF signal as a carrier frequency via the transmission unit ( 4 ) to a receiving unit ( 8 ) of the data read module ( 18 ).

2 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein the brain parameter measurement signal is an intercranial pressure value.

3 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein the brain parameter measurement signal is sent as a digitally modulated signal to the receiving unit ( 8 ).

4 . A method according to claim 3 , wherein digitizing the brain parameter measurement signal is provided by means of an analogue to digital converter.

5 . A method according to claim 1 , further comprising the step of converting the modulated HF signal into a digital signal, wherein the converting step takes place in the receiving unit ( 8 ).

         6 . A method according claim 5 , wherein the digital signal is PC-compatible.

7 . A method according to claim 6 , wherein the PC-compatible signal is at least one of the group of a USB signal or a RS232 signal.

8 . A method according to claim 5 , wherein said converted measurement signal is transmitted to the data read module ( 18 ) by means of a signal cable ( 17 ).

9 . A method according to claim 8 , wherein the transmitted signal is transmitted via a further signal cable ( 19 ) to a data processing and display device ( 20 ) for further processing and display.

10 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein the method steps are regularly repeated.

11 . A method according to claim 10 , wherein in the regular repeating of the method steps is provided over a relatively long time period.

12 . A method according to claim 11 , wherein the regular repeating is provided over the course of several days.
