Abstract

A hard disk drive includes a base, a disk to record and store data, a head stack assembly provided in the base to read out data from the disk which rotates about a pivot shaft, and an air force dispersion unit positioned adjacent to the head stack assembly to disperse an air force generated during a rotation of the disk.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 22 . (canceled)

         23 . An apparatus comprising:
a disk disposed in a base; a head stack assembly disposed in the base; and an air dam disposed outside of the disk,
wherein the air dam is not concentric with the disk.

24 . The apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the head stack assembly, operable to rotate around a pivot shaft, comprises
an actuator having an end portion supporting a magnetic head, and a voice coil motor disposed at an opposite position of the pivot shaft with respect to the actuator and operable to drive the actuator.

25 . The apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the air dam is operable to block an air flow from a rear of the head stack assembly toward the disk.

26 . The apparatus of claim 25 , wherein the air dam is convex with respect to the disk.

27 . The apparatus of claim 25 , wherein the air dam is substantially straight.

28 . The apparatus of claim 25 , wherein the air dam extends from a bottom surface of the base toward a top surface of the base.

29 . The apparatus of claim 28 , wherein the air dam has a height equal to or less than a height of a sidewall of the base.

         30 . An apparatus comprising:
a disk disposed in a base; a head stack assembly disposed in the base; and an air dam disposed outside of the disk,
wherein the air dam is solely provided without an air force dispersion unit disposed adjacent to the head stack assembly.

31 . The apparatus of claim 30 , wherein the head stack assembly, operable to rotate around a pivot shaft, comprises
an actuator having an end portion supporting a magnetic head, and a voice coil motor disposed at an opposite position of the pivot shaft with respect to the actuator and operable to drive the actuator.

32 . The apparatus of claim 30 , wherein the air dam is operable to block an air flow from a rear of the head stack assembly toward the disk.

33 . The apparatus of claim 32 , wherein the air dam extends along a curve corresponding with a radius of the disk.

34 . The apparatus of claim 32 , wherein the air dam is convex with respect to the disk.

35 . The apparatus of claim 32 , wherein the air dam has a linear block shape.

         36 . An apparatus comprising:
a disk disposed in a base; a head stack assembly disposed in the base; and a means for blocking an air flow from a rear of the head stack assembly toward the disk.

37 . The apparatus of claim 36 , wherein the head stack assembly, operable to rotate around a pivot shaft, comprises
an actuator having an end portion supporting a magnetic head, and a voice coil motor disposed at an opposite position of the pivot shaft with respect to the actuator and operable to drive the actuator.

38 . The apparatus of claim 36 , wherein the means for blocking the air flow extends along a curve corresponding with a radius of the disk.

39 . The apparatus of claim 36 , wherein the means for blocking the air flow is convex with respect to the disk.

40 . The apparatus of claim 36 , wherein the means for blocking the air flow has a linear block shape.

41 . The apparatus of claim 25 , wherein the means for blocking the air flow extends from a bottom surface of the base toward a top surface of the base.

42 . The apparatus of claim 28 , wherein the means for blocking the air flow has a height equal to or less than a height of a sidewall of the base.
