Structural Platforms for Fan Double Outlet Guide Vane

Abstract

A structural platform comprises a first end, a second end, a first side wall and a second side wall, a platform body extending between the first end and the second end and further between the first side wall and the second side wall, a first fillet joining the first side wall and the platform body, a second fillet joining the second side wall and the platform body, the sidewalls being curved.

What is claims is: 
     
         1 . A structural platform, comprising:
 a first end, a second end, a first side wall and a second side wall;   a platform body extending between said first end and said second end and further between said first side wall and said second side wall;   a first fillet joining said first side wall and said platform body;   a second fillet joining said second side wall and said platform body;   said sidewalls being curved.   
     
     
         2 . The structural platform of  claim 1 , said structural platform capable of sandwiching a doublet guide vane within a cradle. 
     
     
         3 . The structural platform of  claim 1 , said platform body further comprising a skin facing an airflow and having a smooth surface. 
     
     
         4 . The structural platform of  claim 1 , said structural platform formed of one of metal, plastic or composite. 
     
     
         5 . The structural platform of  claim 1 , said first side wall and said second side wall extending in a radial direction. 
     
     
         6 . The structural platform of  claim 1 , said first side wall and said second side wall being curved to approximate a mating airfoil surface. 
     
     
         7 . The structural platform of  claim 1 , said platform body having a plurality of apertures for receiving fasteners in said platform. 
     
     
         8 . The structural platform of  claim 1  further comprising structural stiffeners extending between said first and second side walls. 
     
     
         9 . The structural platform, comprising:
 a first side wall extending between a first end and a second end;   a second side wall extending between a first end and a second end;   a platform body extending between said first side wall and said second side wall, and from said first end to said second end;   a fillet disposed between said platform body and each of said first sidewall and said second side wall;   said first side wall and said second side wall curved between said first end and said second end, said curvature approximating a curvature of an airfoil surface.   
     
     
         10 . The structural platform of  claim 9 , said fillet capable of being seating in a fillet of an adjacent doublet guide vane. 
     
     
         11 . The structural platform of  claim 9  further comprising at least one stiffener extending between said first side wall and said second side wall. 
     
     
         12 . The structural platform of  claim 9  further comprising a plurality of fastener apertures extending through said platform body.
