Abstract
A method for producing pressed articles containing coal particles, pressed articles obtained from such method, and the use of such pressed articles in methods for producing pig iron in a fixed bed or for producing carbon carriers for methods for producing pig iron in a fixed bed, are provided. To this end, a partial amount of the coal particles to be processed into pressed articles is impregnated with a substance before the material to be processed into pressed articles is mixed with a binder system containing water and finally being processed into pressed articles.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for producing pressed articles containing coal particles, comprising:
subjecting a partial amount of the coal particles to an impregnating process in which the partial amount of the coal particles are impregnated with a substance, after the impregnating process, mixing the coal particles with a water-containing binder system, and pressing the mixture into pressed articles, wherein a lower limit of the amount of substance added in the impregnating process is 0.3% by weight based on a weight of the coal particles to be processed into the pressed articles.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the impregnating process comprises at least one of: damping the coal particles with the substance, spraying the coal particles with the substance, incorporating the substance in a moving packed bed of the coal particles, and incorporating the substance in a fluidized bed of the coal particles.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the substance used in the impregnating process is water.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the substance used the impregnating process is a water-insoluble and/or water-repellent substance.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the substance used in the impregnating process is an aqueous solution of a substance or a mixture of substances.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the substance used in the impregnating process is an aqueous suspension of solid colloids, wherein the solid substance has water-repellent properties.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the substance used in the impregnating process is an emulsion containing water on the one hand and carbon-containing substances on the other.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein an upper limit of the amount of substance added in the impregnating process is 5% by weight, based on the weight of the coal particles processed into pressed articles.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the binder system contains molasses and quicklime or hydrated lime.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the binder system contains an emulsion of bitumen in water.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein iron- or iron-oxide-containing-containing particles are also processed in a mixture with the coal particles.
12 . The method of claim 1 , comprising subjecting the pressed article to a heat treatment after the pressing.
13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein subjecting at least the partial amount of the coal particles subjected to the impregnating process to a heat treatment after the impregnating process before mixing with the water-containing binder system.
14 . A pressed article, containing up to 97% by weight of coal particles and up to 15% by weight of components of a binder system,
wherein the pressed article is formed by:
subjecting a partial amount of the coal particles to an impregnating process in which the partial amount of the coal particles are impregnated with a substance,
after the impregnating process, mixing the coal particles with a water-containing binder system, and
pressing the mixture into the pressed article, and
wherein the pressed article contains at least one of water-insoluble substances, water-repellent substances, and solid substances with water-repellent properties in an amount greater than or equal to 0.3% by weight, and less than or equal to 5% by weight, based on the weight of the coal particles to be processed into pressed articles.
15 . The pressed article of claim 14 , wherein the water-insoluble or water-repellent substance is selected from the group of substances consisting of waxes, organic coking-plant or refinery products, plastics or plastics scrap, and used oil.
16 . The pressed article of claim 14 , wherein the pressed article also contains iron- or iron-oxide-containing particles.
17 . (canceled)
18 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the lower limit of the amount of substance added in the impregnating process is 0.5% by weight, based on the weight of the coal particles processed into pressed articles.
19 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the lower limit of the amount of substance added in the impregnating process is 1% by weight, based on the weight of the coal particles processed into pressed articles.
20 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the upper limit of the amount of substance added in the impregnating process is 3% by weight, based on the weight of the coal particles processed into pressed articles.
21 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the upper limit of the amount of substance added in the impregnating process is 2% by weight, based on the weight of the coal particles processed into pressed articles.Cited by (0)
