Abstract

A personal device is provided. The personal device includes an identification verification system that receives first identification data from a physical identification device, such as by inserting a driver's license into a card reader that is adapted to receive a driver's license. Second identification data such as a PIN number is also received. Payment authorization data or other suitable data is generated if the driver's license corresponds to the PIN. A payment selection system or other suitable system receives the payment authorization data and displays one or more payment accounts for selection by a user. Where a payment selection system is used, the payment selection system transmits payment account data to a point-of-sale system.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

         21 . A device comprising:
a short-range wireless identification device system configured to transmit payment device data to a point of sale system; the device configured to interface with a transaction system that is configured to receive the payment device data and product data corresponding to one or more products and to generate a payment authorization query; and the device configured to receive the payment authorization query and to receive a user-entered authorization in response to the payment authorization query.

22 . The device of claim 21 further comprising an identification verification system configured to receive identification data and to generate payment authorization data if the identification data corresponds to stored identification data.

23 . The device of claim 21 further comprising a remote transaction system configured to receive the payment authorization query and the user-entered authorization and to generate transaction authorization data.

24 . The device of claim 21 wherein the transaction system is configured to communicate with the device over a short-range wireless network and over a long-range cellular network during authorization of the transaction.

25 . A method for controlling payment from a wireless device comprising:
reading short-range wireless identification device data from the wireless device at a point of sale system; generating transaction data from the short-range wireless identification device data; transmitting the transaction data to a remote transaction processing system receiving user-entered identification data at the wireless device; transmitting the user-entered identification data to the remote transaction processing system; receiving transaction authorization data at the point of sale system in response to the transmitted transaction data and user-entered identification data; and storing the short-range wireless identification device data as a function of the transaction authorization data.

26 . The method of claim 25 wherein receiving the user-entered identification data comprises receiving a PIN number.

27 . The method of claim 26 further comprising transmitting the PIN number to a remote payment processor for use in authorizing a payment transaction.

28 . The method of claim 25 further comprising:
transmitting payment account data to a transaction authorization system; and
receiving transaction authorization data from the transaction authorization system as a function of the payment account data.

29 . The method of claim 25 further comprising transmitting the transaction data to the wireless device.

30 . The method of claim 25 further comprising generating the transaction data at the wireless device.

31 . The method of claim 25 wherein the transaction data is transmitted to the wireless device through the transaction processing system.

32 . The method of claim 25 further comprising receiving the transaction data at the wireless device after transmitting the identification data.

33 . The method of claim 25 further comprising receiving transact on data at a user-controlled system after transmitting payment account data.

34 . A method for payment processing comprising:
reading identification data from an identification device in an identification device slot of a wireless device at a point of sale system over a short-range wireless data communication medium; generating transaction data from the identification data; transmitting the transaction data to a remote transaction processing system receiving user-entered identification data at the wireless device; transmitting the user-entered identification data to the remote transaction processing system; receiving transaction authorization data at the point of sale system in response to the transmitted transaction data and user-entered identification data; and storing the identification data as a function of the transaction authorization data.

35 . The method of claim 34 wherein receiving the user-entered identification data comprises receiving a PIN number.

36 . The method of claim 35 further comprising transmitting the PIN number to a remote payment processor for use in authorizing a payment transaction over a cellular data network.

37 . The method of claim 34 further comprising:
transmitting payment account data to a transaction authorization system; and
receiving transaction authorization data from the transaction authorization system as a function of the payment account data.

38 . The method of claim 34 further comprising transmitting the transaction data to the wireless device.

39 . The method of claim 34 further comprising generating the transaction data at the wireless device.

40 . The method of claim 34 wherein the transaction data is transmitted to the wireless device through the transaction processing system.
